MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2021 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 16 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
Deante Burton, DB – Dallas Cowboys
Burton, in his fourth NFL season, is on the Cowboys' practice squad. Dallas won its fourth-straight game in a 44-20 victory over the New York Giants. The 4-1 Cowboys travel to take on New England on Sunday.
B.J. Finney, OL – Pittsburgh Steelers
Finney, who is back with Pittsburgh after spending last year with both Seattle and Cincinnati, was active for the Steelers' 27-19 win over Denver but did not play. The win broke Pittsburgh's three-game losing skid and improved the Steelers to 2-3 on the year prior to hosting Seattle on Sunday night.
Wyatt Hubert, DE – Cincinnati Bengals
A seventh-round draft pick by Cincinnati in this year's draft, Hubert was hurt during the offseason and is on injured reserve. The Bengals dropped an overtime contest at home to Green Bay, 25-22, as they fell to 3-2 on the year. Cincinnati travels to face Detroit on Sunday.
Elijah Lee, LB – Cleveland Browns
After being activated from the practice squad each of the first four games this year, Lee was signed to the active roster on Friday. He played on 26 special teams plays in Cleveland's 47-42 loss at the Los Angeles Chargers. The Browns dropped to 3-2 on the year, and they host Arizona on Sunday.
Tyler Lockett, WR – Seattle Seahawks
Lockett earned the starting nod for the 76th time in his career and came away with five receptions for 57 yards, but it wasn't enough as Seattle lost at home to the Los Angeles Rams, 26-17, on Thursday night. Now 3-2 on the year, the Seahawks travel to face Pittsburgh on Sunday night.
Cornelius Lucas, OL – Washington Football Team
Lucas, in his second year with Washington, saw action on 59 offensive snaps and four special-teams plays in the Football Team's 33-22 home loss to New Orleans. Now 2-3 on the year, Washington hosts Kansas City on Sunday.
Briley Moore, TE – Tennessee Titans
Moore, a rookie free agent signee by the Titans this past offseason, was hurt during training camp and was placed on injured reserve. Tennessee improved to 3-2 on the year by virtue of a 37-19 victory at Jacksonville, and the Titans host Buffalo on Monday night.
AJ Parker, DB – Detroit Lions
A rookie free agent signee this year, Parker totaled seven tackles – including two for a loss – in Detroit's 19-17 loss at Minnesota, the Lions' second-straight loss on a field goal as time expired. Parker's two TFLs tied the franchise's single-game record by a cornerback. Detroit will look to regroup and get in the win column this week by hosting Cincinnati on Sunday.
Byron Pringle, WR – Kansas City Chiefs
Pringle made two catches for 11 yards – including a five-yard touchdown – and returned three kickoffs for a 30.7-yard average in Kansas City's 38-20 home loss to Buffalo on Sunday night. Pringle has 321 kickoff-return yards this year to rank second in the NFL. The Chiefs fell to 2-3 on the season, and they travel to face Washington on Sunday.
D.J. Reed Jr., DB – Seattle Seahawks
Making his 15th-career start, Reed had six tackles and a pass breakup in Seattle's 26-17 Thursday-night home loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Reed has started all five games this year and each of the last 10 dating back to last season. The 2-3 Seahawks travel to face Pittsburgh on Sunday night.
Dalton Risner, OL – Denver Broncos
A week after missing his first-career game due to injury, Risner came back to make the start and play on all 60 offensive snaps in Denver's 27-19 loss at Pittsburgh. Risner has seen time on 2,220 of the Broncos' 2,420 offensive snaps (91.7%) since he began his career in 2019. The Broncos fell to 3-2 this season and will look to break a two-game losing skid when they host Las Vegas on Sunday.
Duke Shelley, DB – Chicago Bears
Shelley made the fourth start of his career and second this season as he made three tackles in Chicago's 20-9 win at Las Vegas. Shelley was in for 56 defensive snaps and five special teams plays. The Bears are now 3-2 this year, and they host Green Bay on Sunday.
Elijah Sullivan, LB – Kansas City Chiefs
A rookie free agent who was with San Francisco the entire preseason, Sullivan was signed to the Chiefs' practice squad on September 11. Kansas City lost at home to Buffalo on Sunday night, 38-20, and the Chiefs travel to take on Washington on Sunday.
Kiondre Thomas, DB – Los Angeles Chargers
Thomas, a rookie free agent who spent the entire preseason with Cleveland, was signed to the Los Angeles Chargers' practice squad on September 6. LA came back to defeat Cleveland, 47-42, to improve to 4-1. The Chargers travel to face Baltimore on Sunday.
Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
Making his 83rd-career start, Whitehair was in for all 64 offensive snaps to help Chicago pick up a 20-9 road win over Las Vegas. The Bears improved to 3-2 on the year prior to hosting Green Bay on Sunday.
Jordan Willis, DE – San Francisco 49ers
A defensive end who joined San Francisco midway through the 2020 season, Willis is suspended for the first six games of 2021. The 49ers lost at home to Arizona, 17-10, to fall to 2-3 on the year as they enter their bye week.
