DALLAS – The Kansas State women's tennis team earned four victories during the SMU Red and Blue Challenge on Friday (October 8) at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex in Dallas.

"We had a good start on the tournament's first day to build off from," stated assistant coach Trang Huyhn-McClain. "We came out with great energy in the first doubles matches but weren't able to carry through the second. We played competitive in singles leading in all the matches but couldn't close out in a couple. We will be successful when we manage to keep our momentum. I'm excited to see our progress through this weekend as we have a lot more matches to play."

Freshman Dinara Alloyarova teamed up with Texas Tech's Camryn Stepp to defeat Paulina Engback and Sumomo Hamanaga from Central Arkansas 6-1. In their second round of the day, Alloyarova and Step took down Taylor Parkinson and Sofia Franco Salcedo from Incarnate Word 6-1.

Seniors Karine-Marion Job and Anna Turco fell to Olivia Malm and Ana Carmen Zamburek from Baylor 6-1.

In her singles match of the day, Job earned a three-set victory against Texas Tech's Kailey Evans 6-3, 4-6, 10-5.

Turco will play again tomorrow after a three-set victory against Central Arkansas' Chunxi Xin 6-4, 7-6(4), 3-10.

Alloyarova couldn't keep up her momentum and dropped her singles match against Northwestern State's Rozi Dohnalova in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 8-10.

K-State will continue bracket play Saturday (October 8) at 10:30 with a singles match for Job in the Mustang Draw.
