MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2021 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 16 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL. For stats on each play, click on their bio link.
Deante Burton, DB – Dallas Cowboys
In his fourth NFL season and third with the Cowboys, Burton is on Dallas' practice squad. The Cowboys improved to 7-2 this season with a 43-3 win over Atlanta, and Dallas travels to face Kansas City on Sunday.
B.J. Finney, OL – Pittsburgh Steelers
Finney, who is in his sixth NFL season and fifth with Pittsburgh, was active but did not play in Pittsburgh's 16-16 tie at home against Detroit. Now 5-3-1 this season, the Steelers travel to face the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday night.
Wyatt Hubert, DE – Cincinnati Bengals
Hubert, a seventh-round draft pick by Cincinnati in this year's draft, was hurt during the offseason and is on injured reserve. The 5-4 Bengals were on a bye, and they open the second half of their season by traveling to face Las Vegas on Sunday.
Elijah Lee, LB – Cleveland Browns
In his second season with Cleveland, Lee made one tackle among his 13 defensive snaps and 22 special teams plays in Cleveland's 45-7 loss at New England. The loss evened Cleveland's record at 5-5 prior to hosting Detroit on Sunday.
Tyler Lockett, WR – Seattle Seahawks
Lockett recorded his 80th-career start and came away with two catches for 23 yards in Seattle's 17-0 loss at Green Bay. The loss dropped the Seahawks to 3-6 this year as they host Arizona on Sunday.
Cornelius Lucas, OL – Washington Football Team
Lucas carded his 27th-career start and third of the year as he helped the Washington Football Team pull the upset over defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay, 29-19. Lucas has seen time on 264 offensive snaps this year, which includes all 73 plays against the Buccaneers. Now 3-6 this season, Washington travels to face Carolina on Sunday.
Briley Moore, TE – Tennessee Titans
A rookie free agent signee by the Titans this past offseason, Moore was hurt during training camp and was placed on injured reserve. The Titans improved to 8-2 this year and won their sixth-straight game by holding off New Orleans, 23-21. Tennessee hosts Houston on Sunday.
AJ Parker, DB – Detroit Lions
A rookie free agent signee this year, Parker earned his fourth start of the season as he recorded five tackles and a pass breakup among his 69 defensive snaps in Detroit's 16-16 tie at Pittsburgh. Detroit is now 0-8-1 this season, and the Lions travel to face Cleveland on Sunday.
Byron Pringle, WR – Kansas City Chiefs
In his third season as a pro, Pringle came away with four catches for 46 yards – including a 22-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to put the game away – helping Kansas City pick up a 41-14 road win at Las Vegas on Sunday night. Pringle also returned two kickoffs for 34 yards as he has a 23.6-yard average this year to rank ninth in the NFL. The Chiefs won for a third-straight week to improve to 6-4, and they host Dallas on Sunday.
D.J. Reed Jr., DB – Seattle Seahawks
Reed started for the 19th time in his career – including all nine games this year – as he made five tackles and a pair of pass breakups while playing on all 74 defensive snaps in Seattle's 17-0 loss at Green Bay. The Seahawks, now 3-6 this year, host Arizona on Sunday.
Dalton Risner, OL – Denver Broncos
Risner started for the 41st time in his career and was in for all 58 offensive snaps in Denver's 30-13 home loss to Philadelphia. Risner has seen time on 2,531 of the Broncos' 2,740 offensive snaps (92.3%) since he began his career in 2019. The Broncos fell to 5-5 on the season as they enter their bye week.
Duke Shelley, DB – Chicago Bears
Shelley and the Bears were off last week. Chicago is 3-6 this season and opens the second half of its schedule by hosting Baltimore on Sunday.
Elijah Sullivan, LB – Kansas City Chiefs
Sullivan, a rookie free agent who was with San Francisco the entire preseason, was signed to the Chiefs' practice squad on September 11. Kansas City earned its third-straight win, a 41-14 triumph at Las Vegas on Sunday night. The 6-4 Chiefs host Dallas on Sunday.
Kiondre Thomas, DB – Los Angeles Chargers
A rookie free agent who spent the entire preseason with Cleveland, Thomas was signed to the Los Angeles Chargers' practice squad on September 6. LA lost at home to Minnesota, 27-20, to drop to 5-4 this year. The Chargers host Pittsburgh on Sunday night.
Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
Whitehair and the Bears had their bye last week. Chicago, which is 3-6 this year, hosts Baltimore on Sunday.
Jordan Willis, DE – San Francisco 49ers
Willis helped San Francisco earn a 31-10 Monday-night home win over the Los Angeles Rams. The 49ers are now 4-5 this year and travel to face Jacksonville on Sunday.
