Smith Signs Two to 2022 Signing Class

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State women's tennis team announced the signing of two players to National Letters of Intent on Thursday (November 11) as head coach Jordan Smith welcomed the additions of Vanesa Suarez and Kristina Paskauskas during the Fall signing period.
 
"We're happy to get two commitments from quality future student-athletes in the early signing period," stated Smith. "Next year will almost be a completely new team for us. I believe Kristina and Vanesa will be beneficial in our transition on and off the court. Both young ladies are motivated to bring their best in college and beyond, which shows the confidence they have developing in the program that myself and Coach Trang have established here."
 
Suarez comes from Valencia, Venezuela and earned the Casely International Championships U16 singles champion title in 2018 when it was hosted in the United States. Back in 2018 and 2019, Suarez was named the singles and doubles champion at the Cosat Tournament in Venezuela for the U14 and U16 bracket.
 
The product of Venezuela has played in the J4 Tampico Junior Open in Mexico of 2020 where she earned the doubles runner-up title. During the J5 Cancun Junior Open, Suarez clinched the runner-up title in singles play.
 
Paskauskas arrives from London, England and is currently ranked ninth the Universal Tennis Rating which ranks international players from the beginner to the professional level. She has had a career high ranking of 426 in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior Ranking.
 
With the help of her coaches and trainers, Paskauskas has an overall record of 20-17 and was the J5 Girls champion at Liverpool in 2019 where she defeated Francesca Andrea Feodorov from Romania.
 
K-State is now transitioning to its Spring 2022 season after competing at the Big 12 Fall Championships on Sunday (November 7) where senior Rosanna Maffei clinched the runner-up spot in singles play.
