MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2021 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 16 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
Deante Burton, DB – Dallas Cowboys
In his fourth NFL season, Burton is on the Cowboys' practice squad. Dallas picked up a 20-16 win on Sunday night at Minnesota. The 6-1 Cowboys host Denver on Sunday.
B.J. Finney, OL – Pittsburgh Steelers
In the midst of his sixth NFL season and fifth with Pittsburgh, Finney was active but did not play in Pittsburgh's 15-10 victory at AFC North foe Cleveland. The victory put the Steelers above .500 at 4-3, as they host Chicago on Monday night.
Wyatt Hubert, DE – Cincinnati Bengals
Hubert, a seventh-round draft pick by Cincinnati in this year's draft, was hurt during the offseason and is on injured reserve. The Bengals suffered a 34-31 loss at the New York Jets to fall to 5-3 this season. They host Cleveland on Sunday.
Elijah Lee, LB – Cleveland Browns
In his second season with Cleveland, Lee made a tackle on kickoff coverage among his 17 special teams plays in the Browns' 15-10 home loss to Pittsburgh. Cleveland fell to 4-4 on the year, and the Browns travel to face in-state foe Cincinnati on Sunday.
Tyler Lockett, WR – Seattle Seahawks
Starting his 79th career game, Lockett totaled a game-high 12 catches for 142 yards – which included six of the Seahawks' 10 longest plays from scrimmage – in Seattle's 31-7 home win over Jacksonville. One of his catches was originally called a touchdown on the field but moved back to the one-yard line after a review. It was the 13th 100-yard receiving game of his career and third this season after starting the year with two-straight. Lockett ranks 12th in the NFL with 579 receiving yards. The Seahawks improved to 3-5 on the year as they enter their bye week.
Cornelius Lucas, OL – Washington Football Team
In his second year with Washington and eighth in the NFL overall, Lucas was inactive for Washington's 17-10 loss at Denver. The Football Team is now 2-6 this season and are off next week.
Briley Moore, TE – Tennessee Titans
A rookie free agent signee by the Titans this past offseason, Moore was hurt during training camp and was placed on injured reserve. The Titans improved to 6-2 on the year thanks to a 34-31 win at Indianapolis, and they travel to face the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night.
AJ Parker, DB – Detroit Lions
Parker, a rookie free agent signee this year, Parker was inactive for Detroit's 44-6 loss at Philadelphia. The Lions fell to 0-8 this year as they enter their bye week.
Byron Pringle, WR – Kansas City Chiefs
Pringle had a catch for 12 yards during his 43 offensive snaps in Kansas City's 20-17 Monday-night home win over the New York Giants. Although he did not have a kickoff return against the Giants, Pringle still ranks fifth in the NFL with 334 kickoff-return yards this year. The Chiefs evened their record at 4-4 and host Green Bay on Sunday.
D.J. Reed Jr., DB – Seattle Seahawks
Starting for the 18th time in his career – including all eight games this year – Reed posted two tackles among his 49 defensive snaps as he helped Seattle earn a 31-7 win over Jacksonville. With the win, the Seahawks improved to 3-5 this season as they enter their bye week.
Dalton Risner, OL – Denver Broncos
Risner, who made his 39th career start, was in for all 53 offensive snaps in Denver's 17-10 home win over Washington. Risner has seen time on 2,404 of the Broncos' 2,604 offensive snaps (92.3%) since he began his career in 2019. Denver snapped a four-game losing streak to even its record at 4-4, and they travel to face Dallas on Sunday.
Duke Shelley, DB – Chicago Bears
Shelley carded one tackle among his 28 defensive snaps, while he was in for eight special teams plays in Chicago's 33-22 home loss to San Francisco. The Bears are now 3-5 this year, as they travel to face Pittsburgh on Monday night.
Elijah Sullivan, LB – Kansas City Chiefs
Sullivan, a rookie free agent who was with San Francisco the entire preseason, was signed to the Chiefs' practice squad on September 11. Kansas City earned a 20-17 Monday-night home win over the New York Giants, and the Chiefs host Green Bay on Sunday.
Kiondre Thomas, DB – Los Angeles Chargers
A rookie free agent who spent the entire preseason with Cleveland, Thomas was signed to the Los Angeles Chargers' practice squad on September 6. The Chargers lost at home to New England, 27-24, to fall to 4-3 this year, and they travel to face Philadelphia on Sunday.
Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
Whitehair made his 86th-career start and was in for all 70 offensive snaps in Chicago's 33-22 home loss to San Francisco. The Bears are now 3-5 on the season prior to traveling to face Pittsburgh on Sunday night.
Jordan Willis, DE – San Francisco 49ers
Willis, who was suspended for the first six games to begin the year, played on 18 defensive snaps in San Francisco's 33-22 win at Chicago. The 49ers improved to 3-4 on the year, and they host Arizona on Sunday.
