MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2021 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 16 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL. For stats on each play, click on their bio link.
Deante Burton, DB – Dallas Cowboys
Burton, who is in his fourth NFL season and third in Dallas, is on the Cowboys' practice squad. Dallas lost at Kansas City, 19-9, to drop to 7-3 on the season, but the Cowboys still hold the lead in the NFC East. They host Las Vegas on Thanksgiving.
B.J. Finney, OL – Pittsburgh Steelers
In his sixth NFL season and fifth with Pittsburgh, Finney saw time on seven special teams plays in the Steelers' 41-37 Sunday-night loss at the Los Angeles Chargers. Now 5-4-1 this year to reside in third place in the AFC North, Pittsburgh travels to face Cincinnati on Sunday.
Wyatt Hubert, DE – Cincinnati Bengals
A seventh-round draft pick by Cincinnati in this year's draft, Hubert was injured during the offseason and is on reserve. The Bengals won at Las Vegas, 32-13, to improve to 6-4 this year and are a game back of Baltimore in the AFC North. Cincinnati hosts Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Elijah Lee, LB – Cleveland Browns
Lee, who is in his second season with Cleveland, was in for 19 special teams plays in Cleveland's 13-10 home win over Detroit. The Browns are now 6-5 this year, which is currently fourth place in the tightly contested AFC North. Cleveland travels to face Baltimore on Sunday night.
Tyler Lockett, WR – Seattle Seahawks
Making his 81st-career start, Lockett had a team-high four catches for 115 yards – including a long of 48 yards – but it wasn't enough as Seattle lost at home to Arizona, 23-13. It was the 14th 100-yard game of his career and fourth this season. Lockett ranks 16th in the NFL with 717 receiving yards, while his 15.3 average per catch is tied for 14th. The Seahawks are now 3-7 this year and they travel to face Washington on Monday night.
Cornelius Lucas, OL – Washington Football Team
Lucas saw time on 40 snaps – including one in which he was a tackle eligible – in Washington's 27-21 win at Carolina. Lucas has seen time on 304 offensive snaps this year. Winners of two-straight games, the Football Team is now 4-6 this year prior to hosting Seattle on Monday night.
Briley Moore, TE – Tennessee Titans
Moore, a rookie free agent signee by the Titans this past offseason, was hurt during training camp and was placed on injured reserve. The Titans lost at home to Houston, 22-13, to drop to 8-3 on the year, but they still lead the AFC South. Tennessee travels to face New England on Sunday.
AJ Parker, DB – Detroit Lions
Parker, a rookie free agent signee this year, carded his first-career interception and made two tackles among his 35 defensive snaps in Detroit's 13-10 loss at Cleveland. The Lions are now 0-9-1 this year, and they host Chicago on Thanksgiving.
Byron Pringle, WR – Kansas City Chiefs
Pringle, who is in his third season as a pro, made one catch for 37 yards and returned three kickoffs for a 34.7-yard average in Kansas City's 19-9 home win over Dallas. One of the best plays he made on Sunday was a tackle on an interception, which perhaps saved a touchdown early in the third quarter. Pringle holds a 25.4-yard average on kickoff returns this season to rank third in the NFL. Winners of four in a row, Kansas City holds a 7-4 record to lead the AFC West as the Chiefs enter their bye week.
D.J. Reed Jr., DB – Seattle Seahawks
Reed was inactive due to injury in Seattle's 23-13 home loss to Arizona. The Seahawks are now 3-7 this year as they travel to face Washington on Monday night.
Dalton Risner, OL – Denver Broncos
Risner, a career 41-game starter, and the Denver Broncos were off last week. Risner has seen time on 2,531 of the Broncos' 2,740 offensive snaps (92.3%) since he began his career in 2019. Holding a 5-5 record to sit in a tie for third place in the AFC West, Denver comes out of its bye to host the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
Duke Shelley, DB – Chicago Bears
Shelley carded two tackles among his 23 defensive snaps and was also in for seven special teams plays in Chicago's 16-13 home loss to Baltimore. The Bears fell to 3-7 this season, and they travel to face Detroit on Thanksgiving.
Elijah Sullivan, LB – Kansas City Chiefs
A rookie free agent who was with San Francisco the entire preseason, Sullivan was signed to the Chiefs' practice squad on September 11. Kansas City earned its fourth-straight win, a 19-9 victory over Dallas to improve to an AFC West-leading record of 7-4. The Chiefs are off this week.
Kiondre Thomas, DB – Los Angeles Chargers
Thomas, a rookie free agent who spent the entire preseason with Cleveland, was signed to the Los Angeles Chargers' practice squad on September 6. LA earned a 41-37 Sunday-night home win over Pittsburgh to improve to 6-4 on the year, a half game back of Kansas City in the AFC West. The Chargers travel to face Denver on Sunday.
Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
Whitehair registered his 88th-career start and was in for all 59 offensive snaps in Chicago's 16-13 home loss to Baltimore. Whitehair has been in for all 619 offensive snaps this season. The Bears fell to 3-7 this year prior to traveling to face Detroit on Thanksgiving.
Jordan Willis, DE – San Francisco 49ers
Willis saw time on 12 defensive snaps and three special teams plays in San Francisco's 30-10 win at Jacksonville. It was the 49ers third win in the last four games as they improved to 5-5 this season. San Francisco hosts Minnesota on Sunday.
