MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2021 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 16 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL. For stats on each play, click on their bio link.
Deante Burton, DB – Dallas Cowboys
In his fourth NFL season and third in Dallas, Burton is on the Cowboys' practice squad. Dallas lost on Thanksgiving to Las Vegas, 36-33, in overtime to drop to 7-4 on the season. The Cowboys still lead the NFC East by two games prior to traveling to face New Orleans on Thursday night.
B.J. Finney, OL – Pittsburgh Steelers
Finney made his 14th career start and first since Week 16 of 2019 when he lined up at left guard and played on all 62 offensive snaps in Pittsburgh's 41-10 loss at Cincinnati. The loss dropped the Steelers to 5-5-1 this year as they are in third place in the AFC North. Pittsburgh hosts Baltimore on Sunday.
Wyatt Hubert, DE – Cincinnati Bengals
Hubert, a seventh-round draft pick by Cincinnati in this year's draft, was injured during the offseason and is on reserve. The Bengals earned a 41-10 home win over Pittsburgh to improve to 7-4 this year, just a game out of first place in the AFC North. The Bengals host the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
Elijah Lee, LB – Cleveland Browns
In his second season with Cleveland, Lee was in for 21 special teams plays in Cleveland's 16-10 loss at Baltimore on Sunday night. The defeat dropped the Browns to 6-6 on the year as they enter their bye week.
Tyler Lockett, WR – Seattle Seahawks
Lockett made his 82nd-career start and brought in three passes for 96 yards – including a long of 55 yards – in Seattle's 17-15 loss at Washington on Monday night. Lockett ranks 11th in the NFL with 813 receiving yards, while his 16.3 average per catch ranks seventh. The Seahawks are now 3-8 this year and host San Francisco on Sunday.
Cornelius Lucas, OL – Washington Football Team
Lucas made his 28th career start and fourth this season as he played on all 84 offensive snaps in Washington's 17-15 Monday-night home win over Seattle. Lucas has seen time on 392 offensive snaps this year. The Football Team earned their third-straight victory to improve to 5-6 on the season and climb into second place in the NFC East prior to traveling to face Las Vegas on Sunday.
Briley Moore, TE – Tennessee Titans
A rookie free agent signee by the Titans this past offseason, Moore was hurt during training camp and was placed on injured reserve. Tennessee lost its second-straight game – a 36-13 defeat at New England – to fall to 8-4 on the year. Despite the loss, the Titans enter their bye week in first place in the AFC South.
AJ Parker, DB – Detroit Lions
A rookie free agent signee who has made four starts this season, Parker was played on injured reserve on Wednesday due to an ankle injury, which means he will miss at least three games. The Lions lost at home on Thanksgiving, 16-14, to Chicago to fall to 0-10-1 this year, and they host Minnesota on Sunday.
Byron Pringle, WR – Kansas City Chiefs
In his third season as a pro, Pringle and the Kansas City Chiefs had their bye during Week 12. Pringle enters the stretch run of the regular season ranking second in the NFL with a 25.4-yard average on kickoff returns. Kansas City holds a 7-4 record to reside in first place in the AFC West, and the Chiefs host Denver on Sunday night.
D.J. Reed Jr., DB – Seattle Seahawks
A game after being inactive due to injury, Reed made the 20th start of his career and 10th this season as he came away with six tackles among his 84 defensive plays in Seattle's 17-15 Monday-night setback at Washington. The loss dropped the Seahawks to 3-8 this season as they host San Francisco on Sunday.
Dalton Risner, OL – Denver Broncos
A career 42-game starter, Risner saw action on the first 18 offensive play before departing due to injury in Denver's 28-13 home win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Risner has seen time on 2,549 of the Broncos' 2,802 offensive snaps (91.0%) since he began his career in 2019. Now 6-5 this season and tied for second place in the AFC West, the Broncos travel to face Kansas City on Sunday night.
Duke Shelley, DB – Chicago Bears
Shelley went on injured reserve last week due to a hamstring injury, meaning he will miss at least three games. Chicago earned a 16-14 Thanksgiving Day win at Detroit to improve to 4-7 this year, and the Bears host Arizona on Sunday.
Elijah Sullivan, LB – Kansas City Chiefs
Sullivan, a rookie free agent who was with San Francisco the entire preseason, was signed to the Chiefs' practice squad on September 11. Kansas City, 7-4 this season to sit in first place in the AFC West, was off last week prior to hosting Denver on Sunday night.
Kiondre Thomas, DB – Los Angeles Chargers
A rookie free agent who spent the entire preseason with Cleveland, Thomas was signed to the Los Angeles Chargers' practice squad on September 6. The Chargers lost at Denver, 28-13, to drop to 6-5 this year and into a tie for second place in the AFC West. LA travels to face Cincinnati on Sunday.
Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
Making his 89th-career start, Whitehair was in for all 70 offensive snaps in Chicago's 16-14 Thanksgiving Day victory at Detroit. Whitehair has been in for all 689 offensive snaps this season. The Bears are now 4-7 this year, and they host Arizona on Sunday.
Jordan Willis, DE – San Francisco 49ers
Willis was inactive for San Francisco's 34-26 home win over Minnesota on Sunday. It was the 49ers' third-straight victory and fourth in the last five games as they improved to 6-5 this season. San Francisco travels to face Seattle on Sunday.
