MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2021 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 16 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
Deante Burton, DB – Dallas Cowboys
Burton, who is in his fourth NFL season, is on the Cowboys' practice squad. The Cowboys suffered a 30-16 home loss to Denver – their first defeat since Week 1 – to drop to 6-2 on the year. Dallas hosts Atlanta on Sunday.
B.J. Finney, OL – Pittsburgh Steelers
Finney, who is in his sixth NFL season and fifth with Pittsburgh, was active but did not play in Pittsburgh's 29-27 Monday-night home win over Chicago. The victory improved the Steelers to 5-3 on the year prior to hosting Detroit on Sunday.
Wyatt Hubert, DE – Cincinnati Bengals
A seventh-round draft pick by Cincinnati in this year's draft, Hubert was hurt during the offseason and is on injured reserve. The Bengals dropped their second-straight game, a 41-16 home loss to AFC North foe Cleveland. Cincinnati is now 5-4 this year entering its bye week.
Elijah Lee, LB – Cleveland Browns
Lee, who is in his second season with Cleveland, registered three defensive tackles and one special teams stop in Cleveland's 41-16 win at Cincinnati. The victory improved the Browns to 5-4 this season, and they travel to face New England on Sunday.
Tyler Lockett, WR – Seattle Seahawks
Lockett and the Seattle Seahawks were off last week. Seattle, 3-5 on the year, travels to face Green Bay on Sunday.
Cornelius Lucas, OL – Washington Football Team
Lucas and the Washington Football Team were off last week. Washington, 2-6 this season, opens the second half of the 2021 campaign by hosting Tampa Bay on Sunday.
Briley Moore, TE – Tennessee Titans
Moore, a rookie free agent signee by the Titans this past offseason, was hurt during training camp and was placed on injured reserve. The Titans earned their fifth-straight win thanks to a 28-16 triumph at the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday night. Tennessee is now 7-2 this year and hosts New Orleans on Sunday.
AJ Parker, DB – Detroit Lions
Parker, a rookie free agent signee this year, and the Detroit Lions were off last week. The Lions, who are 0-8 this year, travel to face Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Byron Pringle, WR – Kansas City Chiefs
Pringle played on 30 offensive snaps and six special teams plays in Kansas City's 13-7 home win over Green Bay. Pringle ranks eighth in the NFL with by averaging 24.6 yards on punt returns. The Chiefs earned their second-straight win to improve to 5-4 this year, and they travel to face Las Vegas on Sunday night.
D.J. Reed Jr., DB – Seattle Seahawks
Reed and the Seattle Seahawks were off last week. The Seahawks, who are 3-5 this year, begin the second half of their season by traveling to face Green Bay on Sunday.
Dalton Risner, OL – Denver Broncos
Making his 40th career start, Risner was in for 69 of Denver's 78 offensive snaps to help the Broncos to a 30-16 win at Dallas. Risner has seen time on 2,473 of the Broncos' 2,682 offensive snaps (92.2%) since he began his career in 2019. Winners of two-straight, Denver is 5-4 this season and hosts Philadelphia on Sunday.
Duke Shelley, DB – Chicago Bears
Shelley came away with five defensive tackles, a pass breakup and two special teams stops in Chicago's 29-27 Monday-night loss at Pittsburgh. Shelley was in for 61 defensive snaps and 16 special teams plays. Chicago, now 3-5 this year, is off next week.
Elijah Sullivan, LB – Kansas City Chiefs
A rookie free agent who was with San Francisco the entire preseason, Sullivan was signed to the Chiefs' practice squad on September 11. Kansas City picked up a 13-7 home win over Green Bay to improve to 5-4, and the Chiefs travel to take on Las Vegas on Sunday night.
Kiondre Thomas, DB – Los Angeles Chargers
Thomas, a rookie free agent who spent the entire preseason with Cleveland, was signed to the Los Angeles Chargers' practice squad on September 6. LA earned a 27-24 win at Philadelphia to improve to 5-3, and the Chargers host Minnesota on Sunday.
Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
Making his 87th-career start, Whitehair was in for all 62 offensive snaps in 29-27 loss at Pittsburgh on Monday night. Chicago is now 3-6 this season as the Bears enter their bye week.
Jordan Willis, DE – San Francisco 49ers
Playing in his second game this season, Willis tallied four tackles among his 18 defensive snaps in San Francisco's 31-17 home loss to Arizona. The 49ers are now 3-5 this year and host the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night.
