MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State senior Caleb Littlejim and sophomore Dylan Phillips were both named to the 2021 John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award Watch List, as the College Baseball Foundation announced the season's initial 17-player list Tuesday.
Littlejim, an outfielder and right-handed pitcher, has made seven appearances on the mound (one start) with a record of 1-2 and a 3.55 earned run average. He has struck out 17 over 12 2/3 innings with opponents hitting .214 against him.
At the plate, the Little Axe, Oklahoma, native has a slash line of .196/.229/.304 to go with two doubles, a home run and five RBI.
Appearing in the outfield, first base and on the mound, Phillips leads the Wildcats with his .347 average, 443 on-base percentage and 30 runs batted in. He ranks in the Big 12's top 10 in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging, home runs and RBI.
A product of Omaha, Nebraska, Phillips has made three relief appearances, striking out four in three innings and posting an ERA of 3.00.
K-State along with Clemson were the only programs with multiple athletes on the two-way player watch list. Littlejim and Phillips along with Oklahoma State's Justin Campbell were the lone Big 12 representatives.
The award is named for former Washington State standout John Olerud, who achieved success both as a first baseman and left-handed pitcher during the late 1980s. He was inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2008. The award will be presented by the College Baseball Foundation later this summer.
K-State takes on Arkansas-Pine Bluff Tuesday and Wednesday at Tointon Family Stadium at 6 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on Big 12 Now on ESPN+ with radio coverage available on News Radio KMAN (93.3 FM, 1350 AM) and free audio streaming at K-StateSports.com/watch.
