
K-State Places 288 on Spring 2021 Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll

MANHATTAN, Kansas – Kansas State student-athletes had a strong spring semester in the classroom, as a total of 288 Wildcat student-athletes were named to the Spring 2021 Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in an announcement from the league office. The conference recognizes all student-athletes at its member institutions during each semester with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
The 288 student-athletes to earn the honor marks the 26th straight semester with an honor roll in which K-State has placed 200 or more student-athletes on the honor roll. The 288 student-athletes on the Spring 2021 Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll brings K-State's total for the 2020-21 school year to 600 recipients.
Of the 288 K-State student-athletes earning the citation for their academic excellence, 97 registered a GPA of 4.0 in the spring semester.
The football and rowing teams led all Wildcat athletic teams with 65 and 44 honorees, respectively, on the Spring 2021 Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll. Other total student-athletes on the honor roll include: women's track and field (43), men's track and field (34), baseball (27), soccer (23), volleyball (14), women's basketball (11), tennis (8), men's and women's golf (7 each) and men's basketball (5).
K-State, a Tier 1 Carnegie Foundation Institution, has had an outstanding 2020-21 academic year by both individual student-athletes and by its teams.
The men's and women's cross country teams and the soccer program were honored this season by their respective coaching associations, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) and the United Soccer Coaches, for their work in the classroom.
To date K-State student-athletes have been recognized with the following honors: 190 Academic All-Big 12 recipients which includes record numbers for football and baseball and league-high totals in soccer, women's basketball and men's and women's track & field. The Big 12 also honored 16 student-athletes with the Dr. Lage Academic Achievement Award, which is the highest academic honor awarded by the Big 12 Conference.
Brookelynn Entz of the soccer team collected Senior CLASS Award All-America Second Team honors and was named the Big 12 Conference co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
In addition, women's basketball's Ayoka Lee was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Second Team, while football's Brock Monty and Drew Wiley and volleyball's Brynn Carlson were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VII First Team in their respective sports. Monty, Wiley and Tyler Burns were also named to the National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society.
K-State Athletics saw 62 student-athletes receive their degrees in May 2021 graduation ceremonies in Bill Snyder Family Stadium. These graduate numbers are in-line with K-State's outstanding Graduation Success Rate, which stood at a record-high of 92 percent, with six programs recording a 100 percent Graduation Success Rate.
K-State ranks among the league's best in terms of academic success as it continues to set a national standard in terms of APR, as all programs are currently well above the required NCAA standard.
