Doubles Teams Off to Hot Start in Stillwater

In the first day of doubles matches the Wildcats went 2-0
The K-State tennis team is off to a 2-0 start at the ITA Central Regional Championships, as two doubles teams competed Thursday (Oct. 13) in Stillwater, Okla.
The Wildcat teams of freshmen Vanesa Suarez and Rozalia Gruszczynska along with sophomore Florentine Dekkers and junior Manami Ukita competed in the first day of matches in the round of 64 doubles main draw.
Suarez and Gruszczynska defeated Alyson Piskulic and Diana Cabrera of Missouri State, 8-3.
Dekkers and Ukita defeated Pia Kranholdt and Anya Lamoreaux of Iowa, 8-4.
Advancing to the round of 32 on Friday (Oct. 14) Suarez/Gruszczynska will face Emma Staker and Alexandra Pisareva of Oklahoma, while Dekkers/Ukita will compete against Jessica Anzo and Kristina Kudryavtseva of Wichita State, both matches at 9:30 a.m. CT.
Also on the slate for Friday is the first round of the main singles draw. Dekkers got a bye and will await the winner of the matchup between Anna Belogliadova of Bradley and Ines Stephani of Drake, at 2:15 p.m. CT.
Suarez will face competition host Oklahoma State's Amber Hochstatter at 11:30 p.m. CT, senior Rosanna Maffei will go up against Wichita State's Natsumi Kurahashi at 12:30 p.m., CT and Gruszczynska will compete against Emelie Schwarte of Missouri at 12:45 p.m. CT.
