Gruszczynska Keeps Fighting in Consolation Bracket

Last day of the fall season commences tomorrow, Sunday Nov. 6
The Kansas State women's tennis team competed in singles matches on Saturday (Nov. 5) on day two of the Big 12 Fall Invite at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Okla.
Sophomore Florentine Dekkers and freshmen Rozalia Gruszczynska and Vanesa Suarez started the day in the main draw quarterfinals.
Dekkers was defeated by Iowa State's Thasaporn Naklo, 6-3, 6-3.
Gruszczynska fell to Oklahoma State's Aymui Mayamoto, 6-4, 6-3.
Suarez was victorious against West Virginia's Pei Ju Hsieh in two sets 6-1, 6-1.
Senior Rosanna Maffei retired against Ting-Pei Chang of West Virginia, 2-1.
Moving to the consolation matches in the afternoon Dekkers faced Kristina Novak of Oklahoma State, losing in two sets 6-2, 7-5.
Gruszczynska battled against Michaela Kucharova of West Virginia before being victorious after a tiebreaker, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.
Suarez competed against Jocelyn Massey from Kansas dropping a tiebreaker match, 7-5, 2-6, 6-2.
The third and final day of the tournament is Sunday (Nov. 6) where one consolation semifinal will feature Gruszczynska and Texas Tech's Yekaterina Dmitrichenko. Dekkers will have a guaranteed match and Suarez will also compete.
