Smith will play on the West All-Stars coached by current Missouri head coach Dennis Gates, along with New Orleans' Derek St. Hilare, BYU's Alex Barcello, Kentucky's Davion Mintz, West Virginia's Taz Sherman, Arkansas' Stanley Umude, Michigan State's Gabe Brown and Marcus Bingham, Jr., Vermont's Ryan Davis and Belmont's Nick Muszynski. Anosike, Tennessee's John Fulkerson, Fordham's Chuba Ohams and Richmond's Grant Golden.
Smith is the first Wildcat to play in the All-Star Game since Barry Brown, Jr., in 2019.
Smith made the most of his extra season at K-State in 2021-22, as the fifth-year senior was named to the All-Big 12 Third Team as well as the All-Newcomer Team. He led the Wildcats in double-doubles (8), rebounding (8.4 rpg.) and defensive rebounds (6.7 drpg.), while he ranked second in scoring (12.7 ppg.), 20-point games (5) and double-digit scoring games (23). He became the shortest player to lead a power conference in rebounding, while he finished second in the Big 12 in double-doubles. Smith's 260 total rebounds this season were the most since Michael Beasley set the school record with 408 in 2007-08.
