MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2023 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 16 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
Felix Anudike-Uzomah, DE – Kansas City Chiefs
Anudike-Uzomah, a first-round pick this year, had one quarterback hit among his three defensive snaps in Kansas City's 31-17 victory at Las Vegas. The Chiefs are now 8-3 this season to lead the AFC West, and they are at Green Bay on Sunday night.
Ekow Boye-Doe, CB – Kansas City Chiefs
Boye-Doe, a rookie free agent this past offseason, was on the Chiefs' practice squad the first 11 weeks of the season but was signed to the active roster on Tuesday. Kansas City picked up a 31-17 win at Las Vegas to improve to an AFC West-leading 8-3 record this season. The Chiefs are at Green Bay on Sunday night.
JuJu Brents, CB – Indianapolis Colts
Brents, a second-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft who has started four games this season, was inactive for the Colts' 27-20 home win over Tampa Bay. Indianapolis improved to 6-5 this season, which is good for second place in the AFC South, and the Colts travel to face Tennessee on Sunday.
Josh Hayes, DB – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Hayes, a sixth-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft, was in for 17 special teams plays in Tampa Bay's 27-20 loss at Indianapolis on Sunday. The Buccaneers dropped to 4-7 this season prior to hosting Carolina on Sunday.
Timmy Horne, DL – Atlanta Falcons
A second-year veteran, Horne is on the Falcons practice squad. Atlanta earned a 24-15 home win over New Orleans to improve to 5-6 this season, which is good for a tie for first place in the NFC South. The Falcons travel to take on the New York Jets on Sunday.
Malik Knowles, WR – Minnesota Vikings
Knowles, a rookie free agent signee by Minnesota this past spring, is on injured reserve. Minnesota suffered its second-straight defeat – a 12-10 loss to Chicago – to drop to 6-6 this season prior to its bye week.
Tyler Lockett, WR – Seattle Seahawks
Making his 114th career start, Lockett came away with three catches for 30 yards in Seattle's 31-13 home loss to San Francisco on Thanksgiving Night. The Seahawks dropped to 6-5 this season as they play at Dallas on Thursday night.
Cornelius Lucas, OL – Washington Commanders
A ninth-year pro, Lucas played on one offensive snap as an eligible tackle and two special teams plays in Washington's 45-10 loss at Dallas on Thanksgiving. The Commanders fell to 4-8 this year prior to hosting Miami on Sunday.
Byron Pringle, WR – Washington Commanders
A signee by Washington this offseason, Pringle came away with two catches for 27 yards among his 17 offensive snaps in addition to seeing time on 14 special teams plays in Washington's 45-10 Thanksgiving Day loss at Dallas. Now 4-8 this season, the Commanders host Miami on Sunday.
D.J. Reed, DB – New York Jets
Making the 50th start of his career and ninth this season, Reed carded 10 tackles and an interception in New York's 34-13 home loss to Miami on Friday afternoon. The Jets are now 4-7 this season prior to hosting Atlanta on Sunday.
Dalton Risner, OL – Minnesota Vikings
Risner, an in-season acquisition by Minnesota, carded his sixth-straight start and was in for all 55 offensive snaps in the Vikings' 12-10 home loss to Chicago. Minnesota is now 6-6 this season entering its bye week.
Duke Shelley, DB – Los Angeles Rams
Shelley, a free agent signee after the preseason, was in for eight special teams plays during the Rams' 37-14 win at Arizona. LA improved to 5-6 this season, and the Rams host Cleveland on Sunday.
Skylar Thompson, QB – Miami Dolphins
Thompson served as the third quarterback for the 10th time this season, as Miami earned a 37-13 win at the New York Jets on Friday afternoon. The Dolphins lead the AFC East with an 8-3 record, and they play at Washington on Sunday.
Deuce Vaughn, RB – Dallas Cowboys
Vaughn, a sixth-round selection in this year's draft, was inactive during the Cowboys' 45-10 Thanksgiving Day victory over Washington. The Cowboys are in second place in the NFC East with an 8-3 record, and they host Seattle on Thursday night.
Cody Whitehair, OL – Chicago Bears
Whitehair was in for seven offensive snaps and five special teams plays as Chicago earned a 12-10 win at Minnesota on Sunday night. The Bears enter their bye week with a 4-8 record.
Russ Yeast, S – Los Angeles Rams
A seventh-round selection last year, Yeast recorded two tackles among his 45 defensive snaps to help the Rams pick up a 37-14 win at Arizona. LA is now 5-6 on the year prior to hosting Cleveland on Sunday.
