
Pelletier Tabbed to Buster Posey Catcher of the Year Watchlist

WICHITA, Kan. – Sophomore Raphael Pelletier was named to the 2023 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Watch List announced by the Wichita Sports Commission.
Previously known as the Johnny Bench Award, the Buster Posey Award honors the nation's top Division I catcher. The watch list will be narrowed to semifinalists, who will be announced May 22 before the finalists are declared June 6. A final vote among the national committee will occur during the College World Series with the winner being revealed on June 29.
The Mascouche, Quebec, Canada product is just one of three catchers from the Big 12 represented in the watch list joined by Kansas' Cole Elvis and West Virginia's Dayne Leonard.
In just his second year on the active roster, Pelletier has started 43-of-49 games behind the plate.
The 6-foot backstop has gunned down a league-high 15 runners this season for an impressive .516 SBA percentage to go along with a .993 fielding percentage.
Pelletier has produced a slash line of .268/.352/.395 on 42 hits including five doubles and five homers with 27 runs scored and 25 RBI.
K-State (31-18), who has won five of its last seven games, will go head-to-head with Oklahoma State (33-14) this weekend with the three-game set starting on Friday at 6 p.m. at O'Brate Stadium. The Big 12 series between the Wildcats and Cowboys will be broadcasted on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
