TUCSON, Ariz. – K-State sophomore reliever Tyson Neighbors was named to the Collegiate Baseball All-America Third Team, announced by the publication Thursday.
Neighbors, a First Team All-Big 12 selection, becomes the first Wildcat to collect All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball since Jordan Wicks in 2021.
The sophomore right-hander led the conference with 11 saves to go with a 1.85 earned run average. The Royse City, Texas product struck out 86 batters which ranked fifth in the Big 12.
In 25 outings, Neighbors earned a decision in 17 games, including a 5-1 record on the hill. He totaled 48 2/3 innings where he issued just 16 walks, with opponents hitting .135 against him.
Neighbors' 11 saves ties third in the program's single-season records and ranks ninth overall.
In early May, he earned an invitation to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp, becoming just the second Wildcat in history to attend since K-State Hall of Fame Inductee Craig Wilson in 1988.
The award marks the first All-America honor of Neighbors' career while he becomes the program's 32nd postseason All-American and second under fifth-year head coach Pete Hughes.
K-State finished the 2023 season 35-24, marking the sixth 35-win season in school history and first since 2013. The Wildcats reached the semifinal round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship last week for the third consecutive year.
