Wildcats in the NFL – Week 4

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2023 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 18 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
 
Felix Anudike-Uzomah, DE – Kansas City Chiefs
A first-round draft pick last season, Anudike-Uzomah logged his first career start and came away with three tackles and two quarterback hits among his 26 defensive snaps, helping the Chiefs earn a 17-10 victory at the Chargers. Kansas City is now 4-0 this season prior to hosting New Orleans on Monday night.
 
Cooper Beebe, OL – Dallas Cowboys
Beebe, a third-round pick in this year's draft, made his fourth start at center in as many games and was in for all 56 offensive snaps in the Cowboys' 20-15 win at the New York Giants on Thursday night. The victory improved Dallas' record to 2-2 this year prior to a Sunday-night game at Pittsburgh.
 
JuJu Brents, CB – Indianapolis Colts
Brents, a second-round selection last year, was placed on injured reserve on September 10. Indianapolis moved to 2-2 on the season with a 27-24 home win over Pittsburgh, and the Colts travel to face Jacksonville on Sunday.
 
Khalid Duke, OLB – Tennessee Titans
Duke, an undrafted rookie free agent, is on Tennessee's practice squad. The Titans picked up their first win of the season, a 31-12 victory at Miami on Monday night, prior to their bye week.
 
Josh Hayes, DB – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
A sixth-round selection in last year's draft, Hayes recorded a tackle on punt coverage among his 20 special teams snaps, helping the Buccaneers earn a 33-16 home win over Philadelphia. Now 3-1 this season, Tampa Bay travels to take on Atlanta on Thursday night.
 
KT Leveston, OL – Los Angeles Rams
Leveston, a seventh-round draft pick by the Los Angeles Rams, was placed on injured reserve on August 27, but he was put on the list with a designated for return tag as he will be allowed to return to the active roster this season. The Rams lost at Chicago, 24-18, to fall to 1-3, and they host Green Bay on Sunday.
 
Tyler Lockett, WR – Seattle Seahawks
Lockett, in his 10th NFL season – all with the Seahawks –made his 124th-career start, hauling in five receptions for 61 yards as Seattle suffered its first loss of the season, a 42-29 defeat at Detroit on Monday night. The Seahawks, now 3-1 this season, host the New York Giants on Sunday.
 
Cornelius Lucas, OL – Washington Commanders
Lucas, a 10th-year pro, made his 49th-career start and was in for 37 offensive snaps during Washington's 42-14 win at Arizona. The Commanders improved to 3-1 this season, and they host Cleveland on Sunday.
 
Adrian Martinez, QB – New York Jets
Martinez is in his first season on the Jets' practice squad. New York suffered a 10-9 home loss to Denver on Sunday to fall to 2-2, and the Jets play Minnesota in London on Sunday.
 
Matthew McCrane, K – Detroit Lions
McCrane, who last kicked in the NFL in 2018, was signed to Detroit's practice squad on September 18. The Lions picked up a 42-29 win at home against Seattle on Monday night to improve to 3-1 prior to their bye week.
 
D.J. Reed, DB – New York Jets
In his third season in New York, Reed tallied his 59th-career start, making three tackles – including one for a loss – and two pass breakups during New York's 10-9 home loss to Denver. The Jets fell to 2-2 on the year prior to facing Minnesota in London on Sunday.
 
Dalton Risner, OL – Minnesota Vikings
In his second season in Minnesota, Risner was placed on injured reserve on August 27 but is eligible to return to the active roster. The Vikings improved to 4-0 this season with a 31-29 win at Green Bay, and they play the Jets in London on Sunday.
 
Duke Shelley, CB – New York Giants
Shelley, a member of the Giants' practice squad, was elevated to the active roster for New York's 20-15 home loss to Dallas on Thursday night. Shelley carded one tackle in the game among his 14 defensive snaps, while he was also in for nine special teams plays. The Giants are now 1-3 this year, and they play at Seattle on Sunday.
 
Ben Sinnott, TE – Washington Commanders
Sinnott, a second-round selection in this year's draft, made a tackle on punt coverage among his four special teams plays while also seeing time on 30 offensive snaps, helping Washington earn a 42-14 win at Arizona. The Commanders are now 3-1 this season prior to hosting Cleveland on Sunday.
 
Skylar Thompson, QB – Miami Dolphins
Following an injury during his first start of the season last week, Thompson was inactive during Miami's 31-12 Monday-night home loss to Tennessee. The Dolphins fell to 1-3 this season, and they travel to face New England on Sunday.
 
Deuce Vaughn, RB – Dallas Cowboys
Vaughn, a sixth-round selection last year, saw action on four offensive snaps and one special teams play during the Cowboys' 20-15 win at the New York Giants on Thursday night. Now 2-2 this season, Dallas is at Pittsburgh on Sunday night.
 
Cody Whitehair, OL – Las Vegas Raiders
Whitehair, who is in his ninth NFL season and first in Las Vegas, saw action in eight offensive snaps and four special teams plays during the Raiders' 20-16 home win over Cleveland. Las Vegas is now 2-2 this season prior to a game at Denver on Sunday.
 
Russ Yeast, S – Carolina Panthers
Yeast, who signed to Carolina's active roster last week, saw time on seven special teams plays during the Panthers' 34-24 home loss to Cincinnati. Carolina is now 1-3 this season, and they play at Chicago on Sunday.
