MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2023 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 16 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
Felix Anudike-Uzomah, DE – Kansas City Chiefs
A first-round draft pick last year, Anudike-Uzomah had one tackle among his 19 defensive snaps in Kansas City's 26-25 last-second win over Cincinnati. The Chiefs, now 2-0 this season, travel to face Atlanta on Sunday night.
Cooper Beebe, OL – Dallas Cowboys
Beebe, a third-round pick in this year's draft, made his second start in as many games and was in for all 70 offensive snaps in the Cowboys' 44-19 home loss to New Orleans. Dallas, which fell to 1-1 this season, hosts Baltimore on Sunday.
JuJu Brents, CB – Indianapolis Colts
Brents, a second-round selection last year, was placed on injured reserve on September 10. The Colts fell to 0-2 with a 16-10 loss at Green Bay, and they host Chicago on Sunday.
Khalid Duke, OLB – Tennessee Titans
Duke, an undrafted rookie free agent, is on the Titans' practice squad. The Titans suffered a 24-17 home loss to the New York Jets to fall to 0-2. Tennessee hosts Green Bay on Sunday.
Josh Hayes, DB – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
A sixth-round selection in last year's draft, Hayes was inactive for Tampa Bay's 20-16 win at Detroit. The 2-0 Buccaneers host Denver on Sunday.
KT Leveston, OL – Los Angeles Rams
Leveston, a seventh-round draft pick, was placed on injured reserve on August 27, but he was put on the list with a designated for return tag as he will miss at least four games before returning to the active roster. The Rams fell to 0-2 this season following a 41-10 loss at Arizona, and they have their home opener against San Francisco on Sunday.
Tyler Lockett, WR – Seattle Seahawks
Lockett, who is in his 10th NFL season – all with the Seahawks – made his 122nd-career start, hauling in two passes for 15 yards among his 51 offensive snaps to help Seattle win at New England, 23-20. The Seahawks are now 2-0 this season prior to hosting Miami on Sunday.
Cornelius Lucas, OL – Washington Commanders
Lucas, a 10th-year pro, made his 47th-career start and was in for 50 offensive snaps during Washington's 21-18 home win over the New York Giants. The Commanders are now 1-1 this season and play at Cincinnati on Monday night.
Adrian Martinez, QB – New York Jets
Martinez is on the New York Jets' practice squad. The Jets picked up a 24-17 win at Tennessee to improve to 1-1, and they have their home opener on Thursday night against New England.
D.J. Reed, DB – New York Jets
In his third season in New York, Reed was inactive for the Jets' 24-17 victory at Tennessee, a win that evened New York's record at 1-1. The Jets have their home opener on Thursday night against New England.
Dalton Risner, OL – Minnesota Vikings
In his second season in Minnesota, Risner was placed on injured reserve on August 27 but was designated for return as he will miss at least four games. The Vikings improved to 2-0 this season with a 23-17 home win over San Francisco, and they host Houston on Sunday.
Duke Shelley, CB – New York Giants
Shelley is in his first year on the Giants' practice squad. New York lost at Washington, 21-18, to fall to 0-2 this season, and the Giants are at Cleveland on Sunday.
Ben Sinnott, TE – Washington Commanders
Sinnott, a second-round selection in this year's draft, saw action on 13 offensive snaps and four special teams plays in Washington's 21-18 home win over the New York Giants. The Commanders, now 1-1 this season, travel to face Cincinnati on Monday night.
Skylar Thompson, QB – Miami Dolphins
Thompson, who is in his third year in Miami, took over at quarterback during the third quarter of the Dolphins' 31-10 home loss to Buffalo on Thursday night. He went 8-of-14 through the air for 80 yards and rushed one time for four yards. Miami, now 1-1 this season, plays at Seattle on Sunday in a game that Thompson is slated to make his third-career regular season start.
Deuce Vaughn, RB – Dallas Cowboys
Vaughn, a sixth-round selection last year, rushed four times for 11 yards and had one catch for six yards among his 10 offensive snaps in Dallas' 44-19 home loss to New Orleans. The Cowboys, now 1-1 this year, host Baltimore on Sunday.
Cody Whitehair, OL – Las Vegas Raiders
Whitehair, who is in his ninth NFL season and first with the Raiders, was in for 36 offensive snaps and six special teams plays to help Las Vegas earn a 26-23 come-from-behind victory at Baltimore. The Raiders are now 1-1 this season prior to their home opener on Sunday against Carolina.
