MANHATTAN, Kan. – Each week throughout the 2023 season, k-statesports.com recaps the action for the 18 former Kansas State football players currently in the NFL.
Felix Anudike-Uzomah, DE – Kansas City Chiefs
Anudike-Uzomah, a first-round draft pick last year, had a sack that forced a fumble among his two tackles as he saw time on 14 defensive snaps in Kansas City's 22-17 victory at Atlanta on Sunday night. The Chiefs are now 3-0 this season as they travel to face the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.
A third-round pick in this year's draft, Beebe made his third start at center and was in for all 80 offensive snaps in Dallas' 28-25 home loss to Baltimore. The Cowboys are now 1-2 this year prior to a game at the New York Giants on Thursday night.
JuJu Brents, CB – Indianapolis Colts
A second-round selection last year, Brents was placed on injured reserve on September 10. The Colts earned their first win of the year, a 21-16 victory over Chicago, prior to hosting Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Khalid Duke, OLB – Tennessee Titans
An undrafted rookie free agent, Duke is on the Titans' practice squad. Tennessee lost at home to Green Bay, 30-14, as the Titans travel to face Miami on Monday night.
Josh Hayes, DB – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Hayes, a sixth-round selection in last year's draft, was in for 14 special teams plays in Tampa Bay's 26-7 home loss to Denver. The Buccaneers fell to 2-1 this season, and they host Philadelphia on Sunday.
KT Leveston, OL – Los Angeles Rams
A seventh-round draft pick, Leveston was placed on injured reserve on August 27, but he was put on the list with a designated for return tag as he will miss at least four games before returning to the active roster. LA earned a 27-24 home win over San Francisco – its first victory of the season – prior to traveling to face Chicago on Sunday.
Tyler Lockett, WR – Seattle Seahawks
In his 10th NFL season – all with the Seahawks – Lockett made his 123rd-career start and brought in five receptions for 46 yards to help Seattle stay undefeated with a 24-3 win over Miami. The Seahawks play at Detroit on Sunday night.
Cornelius Lucas, OL – Washington Commanders
A 10th-year pro, Lucas made his 48th-career start and was in for 30 offensive snaps for Washington's 38-33 win at Cincinnati on Monday night. The victory improved the Commanders to 2-1 on the year, and they remain on the road to play at Arizona on Sunday.
Adrian Martinez, QB – New York Jets
Martinez is on the Jets' practice squad. New York earned a 24-3 home win on Thursday night against New England, and the 2-1 Jets host Denver on Sunday.
Matthew McCrane, K – Detroit Lions
McCrane, who last kicked in the NFL in 2018, was signed to Detroit's practice squad on September 18. The Lions earned a 20-13 win at Arizona, and they host Seattle on Monday night.
D.J. Reed, DB – New York Jets
Reed, who is in his third season in New York, tallied his 58th-career start as he made two tackles to help the Jets pick up a 24-3 home win over New England on Thursday night. Now 2-1 this season, New York hosts Denver on Sunday.
Dalton Risner, OL – Minnesota Vikings
Risner, who is in his second season in Minnesota, was placed on injured reserve on August 27 but was designated for return as he will miss at least four games. The Vikings are now 3-0 after a 34-7 home win over Houston, and they travel to face Green Bay on Sunday.
Duke Shelley, CB – New York Giants
Shelley is in his first year on the Giants' practice squad. New York won its first game of the year with a 21-15 victory at Cleveland, and the Giants host Dallas on Thursday night.
Ben Sinnott, TE – Washington Commanders
A second-round selection in this year's draft, Sinnott was in for 26 offensive snaps and six special teams plays, helping the Commanders earn a 38-33 win at Cincinnati on Monday night. Washington, now 2-1 this season, travels to face Arizona on Sunday.
Skylar Thompson, QB – Miami Dolphins
In his third year in Miami, Thompson made his third career regular-season start and went 13-of-19 through the air for 107 yards prior to an injury that knocked him out of the Dolphins' 24-3 loss at Seattle. Miami is now 1-2 this season prior to hosting Tennessee on Monday night.
Deuce Vaughn, RB – Dallas Cowboys
A sixth-round selection last year, Vaughn rushed twice for five yards and made one reception for eight yards among his five offensive snaps in the Cowboys' 28-25 home loss to the Ravens. The Cowboys, now 1-2 this season, travel to take on the New York Giants on Thursday night.
Cody Whitehair, OL – Las Vegas Raiders
In his ninth NFL season and first with the Raiders, Whitehair was in for all 64 offensive snaps during Las Vegas' 36-22 home loss to Carolina. The Raiders dropped to 1-2 on the season prior to hosting Cleveland on Sunday.
Russ Yeast, S – Carolina Panthers
Yeast was released by the Los Angeles Rams on September 14 and signed to the Carolina practice squad the next day, and the Panthers went on to win at Las Vegas, 36-22, for their first victory of the year. Yeast then signed with Carolina's active roster on Tuesday, and it hosts Cincinnati on Sunday.
