Martin Earns Big 12 Player of the Week Honors

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State baseball's Maximus Martin was voted the Big 12 Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
The transfer from Georgia State is the second Wildcat to garner a weekly award, joining left-hander Lincoln Sheffield, who picked up Co-Newcomer of the Week honors last week.
A native of Edgewater Park, N.J., Martin led the way for a Wildcat offense that outscored opponents 28-17 and out-hit opponents 33-25. The junior finished the weekend 6-for-12 (.500) with an impressive 1.404 OPS on his way to earning All-Tournament honors.
Martin drove in a team-leading five RBI at the Frisco Classic and scored a team-best five runs, ranking second overall in the tournament in both categories. Martin doubled and homered in Sunday's victory over Nebraska, the defending Big Ten Champion.
Martin's .467 season average ranks second overall in the Big 12 Conference and 39th nationally. The shortstop posts a team-leading .543 on-base percentage and is slugging .800, which is third-best in the league.
The Wildcats (6-5) will open their home slate of the 2025 schedule on Wednesday afternoon, when they host the Creighton Bluejays (5-4) at Tointon Family Stadium, starting at 3 p.m.
Season and single-game tickets are now available. To purchase season tickets, fans can visit KStateSports.com, call 1-800-221-CATS (2287), or stop by the K-State Athletics Ticket Office in Bramlage Coliseum.
