N’Guessan Earns Bid to Portsmouth Invitational

The graduating senior to participate in one of the preeminent NBA pre-draft camps.

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Senior David N'Guessan has received a bid to play in the Portsmouth Invitational, which is set for Wednesday-Saturday, April 16-19 at Churchland High School in Portsmouth, Virginia.
 
Operating since 1953, the Portsmouth Invitational is one of the preeminent NBA pre-draft camps with approximately 200 NBA representatives in attendance. The four-day tournament consists of 12 games with 64 invited college seniors playing on eight teams of eight players.

N'Guessan will be playing for Portsmouth Partnership coached by Evan Kee, Erik Johnson and Dominique Johnson on a roster that includes a familiar face in Kansas' Zeke Mayo. They will be joined by Indiana's Oumar Ballo, Washington's Great Osobor, Miami's Matthew Cleveland, Tennessee's Jahami Mashack, Saint Mary's Augustus Marciulonis and Penn State's Ace Baldwin Jr.
 
N'Guessan and Portsmouth Partnership open play in the tournament on Wednesday (April 16) at 8 p.m., CT vs. Norfolk Sports Club, following the first game between Sales Systems, Ltd. And K&D Rounds. The losers of the first two games will play on Thursday (April 17) at 2:15 p.m., CT, while the winners will play Friday (April 18) at 6 p.m., CT. N'Guessan and Mayo will be joined by fellow Big 12 players in Iowa State's Curtis Jones, UCF's Darius Johnson, Utah's Gabe Madsen, Texas Tech's Chance McMillian and Houston's J'Wan Roberts.
                          
A 6-foot-9, 220-pound wing from De Lier, The Netherlands, N'Guessan was the Wildcats' leading scorer and rebounder for most of the season, as he averaged 13.3 points on a Big 12-best 64.4 percent (179-of-278) shooting from the field with 7.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.9 blocks in 29.7 minutes per game. He scored in double figures in a team-best 26 games, including a team-best six 20-point performance. He has also collected a team-best 7 double-doubles, including 5 in Big 12 play. In addition to being the league's leader in field goal percentage, he ranked in the Big 12's top 20 in both scoring and rebounding.
 
N'Guessan set the school record for both career (63.6) and single-season (64.4) field goal percentage.
 
N'Guessan finished off his final season by earning All-Big 12 honorable mention honors from the league coaches, while he was named to the NABC's All-Central Region Second Team.
