K-State Holds Initial Spring Football Press Conference

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman and select players met with members of the media on Wednesday inside the Vanier Family Football Complex prior to the start of spring football practices. Opening Statement…
"Good afternoon, everyone. We are heading into our next phase. We kind of talked about this with our strength staff, coaches and support staff. We were going to have a longer first phase this year to try to put on more weight, more mass, more strength, do more change in direction, do more speed work. So, we added a few more weeks – probably three more weeks – than what we've done in the previous six years. It was really beneficial. I think you guys probably saw some graphics that went around with the amount of weight, muscle mass, some of the speed numbers we had. So, we had a really good first phase, and now I know the kids are excited to get into the second phase with the football part of it. That starts for us on Friday, and we're not having quite as many practices for a variety of reasons. We can get into that if you want to, but I'm excited about seeing some of the new guys that have just joined our program, as well as a lot of other guys that you know are going to have an opportunity because of guys that graduated and left our program."
