K-State Adds Georgia Southern Transfer Kelsey Chen
May 23, 2025 | Women's Golf
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Just days after competing in the first NCAA Championship in program history, Kansas State women's golf head coach Stew Burke added a piece to the 2025-26 Wildcats with the signing of transfer Jiarui (Kelsey) Chen.
Â
Chen comes to Manhattan after spending her freshman season at Georgia Southern, putting together a 74.93 scoring average with six top-20 finishes.
Â
"We are delighted to have Kelsey joining us this fall," Burke said. "She brings good postseason experience having competed at both the NCAA Regional and NCAA Championship. I think she will be a great fit for the program as she adds some needed experience to what will be a very young lineup. Kelsey has a high ceiling and a lot to offer as we look forward to helping her achieve her goals on the golf course at K-State and beyond."
Â
A native of Daliana, China, Chen was a member of a Georgia Southern squad that also finished its season in the 2025 NCAA Championship after tying with K-State for second place in the NCAA Lexington Regional. Her best finish of the season came in the Puerto Rico Classic when she finished in sixth place at 3-under par 213. She also tied for 11th place in the More Than Golf Invitational with a 54-hole score of 6-over par 225, while she tied for 16th place in the Sun Belt Championship at 6-over par 222.
Â
Prior to arriving at Georgia Southern, Chen was an accomplished golfer on the junior circuit. She won both the 2023 Buick National Junior and the 2022 Super Lychee National. She was also the low amateur at the China LPGA (CLPGA) Q-School, while she earned runner-up finishes in both the HSBC National Junior Championship and China Amateur Golf Classic.
Â
Chen joins a 2025-26 K-State women's golf signing class that also includes Stalee Fields (Fort Worth, Texas), Casey Kang (Lanzhou, China) and Thitaree (Keen) Visavapattamawan (Bangkok, Thailand).Â
