Five Things to Know: Exavier Wilson

Wilson is one of 10 newcomers and two true freshmen in 2025-26.

Today we continue a series of "Get to Know" features on the newest members of the 2025-26 Kansas State men's basketball team. We continue with freshman guard Exavier Wilson (Columbia, Mo./Father Tolton Catholic), who is one of 10 newcomers and one of two freshmen.

  1. Wilson was a 3-time All-State selection while in high school.
Wilson played at Father Tolton Catholic High School in Columbia, Mo., where he developed into a 3-star prospect by most recruiting services and was the No. 10 overall prospect in the state of Missouri by 247Sports. He was a three-time Missouri Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA) Class 4 All-State selection (2023, 2024, 2025), a two-time MBCA District 9 Player of the Year (2024, 2025) and a three-time Class 4 All-District selection while at Tolton. He was also a finalist for the IQHOOPZ Missouri Player of the Year in 2024-25.
 
Wilson led the Trailblazers to the semifinals of the 2023 MSHSAA Class 4 State Tournament and the quarterfinals of the 2024 and 2025 Class 4 State Tournament while also helping them to four consecutive District 4 Championships.
 
  1. Wilson was a prolific scorer with more than 1,700 points in his prep career.
Wilson scored 1,707 points in his prep career, finishing second all-time at Father Tolton Catholic behind only current Brooklyn Net Michael Porter Jr. He averaged 20.6 points as a senior in 2024-25, including a memorable 34-point performance vs. Sikeston on Feb. 27 in the regular season finale. He first set that season-high of 34 points in a double-overtime win over Battle on Feb. 7 that also included 17 rebounds and 5 assists. In addition, he scored 33 points vs. Hickman on Feb. 4 and was MVP of the Quincy Shootout after posting 30 points vs. Modesto Christian on Jan. 25.
 
Wilson set his career-high with 38 points in a two-overtime win over Sikeston on Feb. 24, 2024, as a junior to go with 11 rebounds and zero turnovers.
 
  1. Wilson has proven to be more than just a scorer.
Wilson displayed abilities to be more than just a prolific scorer in high school, as he left Tolton as the school leader in steals (187) while also ranking in the school's all-time top-5 in rebounding (487, 5th) and assists (181, 3rd). In addition to averaging 20.7 points per game as a senior in 2024-25, he also posted 6.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game.
 
Among his biggest scoring games, Wilson also contributed in other areas, including pulling down 17 rebounds and dishing out 5 assists to go with 34 points in a double-overtime win over Battle on Feb. 7. He also had 7 rebounds and 4 assists to go with 33 points against Hickman on Feb. 4. He tallied another double-double vs. Oak Park on Feb. 6 with 25 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists. In his MVP performance at the Quincy Shootout on Jan. 25, he also chipped 6 assists and 5 boards to go with his 30 points. He posted 11 rebounds to go with his career-high 38 points in a two-overtime win over Sikeston on Feb. 24, 2024, as a junior.
 
  1. Wilson was selected to play in the 24K Showcase at the Iverson Classic.
Wilson was selected to play in the prestigious 24K Showcase at the Allen Iverson Classic at Bethel High School in Hampton, Va., in early May. He scored 17 points in the Showcase on 7-of-20 shooting with a game-high 8 assists, 3 rebounds and 3 steals.
 
Named for famed NBA player and cultural icon Allen Iverson, the Iverson Classic has become one of the premier All-American games for high school players since its debut in 2017.
 
  1. Wilson continues a long line of players from the state of Missouri.
Wilson's addition continues a long history of K-State players from the state of Missouri, which includes notable Wildcats Anthony Beane (Bernie), Charles Bledsoe (St. Louis), Ben Mitchell (St. Louis), Randy Reed (St. Louis), Will Scott (Kansas City) and Xavier Sneed (St. Louis). Wilson is the 29th player to hail from the Show-Me State, including the second from Columbia. Lance Harris, who scored more than 1,000 points from 2003-07, is also from city.
 
Wilson played his AAU ball with MOKAN, which was co-founded by current assistant coach Rodney Perry.
