McClannan Named Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week
Sep 30, 2025 | Football
MANHATTAN, Kan. – One day after being named to the Ray's 8 list, Kansas State sophomore Simon McClannan was chosen as the best of the group by being named the Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week, the award's organization announced on Tuesday.
Â
McClannan averaged 51.0 yards on his four attempts last week against UCF as three of his four punts went at least 45 yards, none were returned and all four resulted in the Knights beginning the next drive inside their own 20-yard line. His effort included a career-long 65-yard punt, which was the longest by a Wildcat in two seasons.
Â
A native of Omaha, Nebraska, McClannan became the first Wildcat punter in the Big 12 era to average at least 50.0 yards per punt on at least four attempts in consecutive games as he produced a 50.8-yard average in the previous game at Arizona.
Â
McClannan enters this week's game at Baylor ranking third in the Big 12 with a 45.1-yard average on 19 punts, which includes seven that have traveled at least 50 yards to tie for second in the Big 12.
Â
Kansas State travels to take on the Bears in an 11 a.m., game this Saturday that will be shown on ESPN+. Following the game at Baylor, the Wildcats return home on October 11 to host TCU on Homecoming. The game against the Horned Frogs kicks off at 2:30 p.m., and will be shown on FOX. Fans can purchase tickets to the TCU game online at www.k-statesports.com/tickets or by phone at 1-800-221-CATS.
