
Sharpshooter Schutt Becomes Latest Addition

MANHATTAN, Kan. – First-year head coach Casey Alexander continued building his roster for the 2026-27 men's basketball season with the addition of transfer Jaden Schutt (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville Christian/Duke/Virginia Tech) on Monday afternoon (April 20).
A 6-foot-5, 200-pound guard originally from Yorkville, Ill., Schutt arrives at K-State with four years of Division I experience, having played in 78 games with 31 starts in his time at Duke (2022-24) and Virginia Tech (2024-26). In those 78 games, he averaged 6.7 points on 37.4 percent (167-of-446) shooting, including 37 percent (129-of-349) from 3-point range, with 2.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 22.1 minutes per game. He also connected 83.1 percent (59-of-71) from the free throw line.
Schutt has one more season of eligibility after earning a medical redshirt in 2023-24.
Schutt most recently played two seasons (2024-26) at Virginia Tech for head coach Mike Young, playing in 64 games with 31 starts for a Hokie squad that increased its win total from 13 in 2024-25 to 19 in 2025-26. He scored nearly 500 points (493/7.7 ppg.) in his VT career, connecting on 37.6 percent (157-of-418) from the field, including 37.1 percent (122-of-329) from 3-point range, and 85.1 percent (57-of-67) from the free throw line. He also totaled 140 rebounds (2.2 rpg.), 77 assists (1.2 apg.) and 37 steals (0.6 spg.) in 25.4 minutes per game.
Schutt led the Hokies in 3-point field goals in both seasons, averaging nearly 2 made triples per game, including career bests for percentage (38.5) and makes (65) as a redshirt junior in 2025-26. He had a career-high 6 made 3-points vs. George Mason on Dec. 6, 2025. He scored in double figures in 25 of his 64 games played, including a career-high 20 points vs. Syracuse on March 1 on 6-of-7 field goals, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.
This past season, Schutt averaged 7.7 points on 38.4 percent (78-of-203) shooting, including 38.5 percent (65-of-169) from 3-point range, and 86.2 percent (25-of-29) from the free throw line to go with 1.6 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 24.6 minutes per game.
Schutt started his college career at Duke in 2022-23 where he saw action in 14 games as a true freshman for a Blue Devil squad that won the ACC championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He averaged 2.1 points on 35.7 percent (10-of-28) shooting, including 35 percent (7-of-20) from 3-point range, with 1.1 rebounds in 6.8 minutes per game. He did not play in 2023-24 due to left knee surgery.
Schutt was a highly-regarded prep player out of Yorkville Christian in Yorkville, Ill., where he ranked among ESPN's top 50 players, including the top-10 shooting guards. He was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Illinois as a senior in 2022, averaging 24.6 points on 52 percent shooting with 6.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.5 steals per game en route to leading the Mustangs to 25 wins and their first-ever Class 1A state title. He finished his prep career with 2,322 points and 334 3-pointers, including an Illinois high school single-game record 17 as a sophomore.
Schutt played with the Illinois Wolves on the AAU circuit, where he helped lead them to the Under Armour Association 17U title in the summer of 2021.
Schutt is the third player to join the Wildcat from the transfer portal, joining 7-foot-1, 255-pound center JT Rock (Sioux Falls, S.D./Lincoln/Iowa State/New Mexico) and 6-foot-7, 205-pound forward Isaiah Abraham (Gainesville, Va./Paul VI/UConn/Georgetown).
