
International Player Timotej Malovec Joins Wildcats

MANHATTAN, Kan. – First-year head coach Casey Alexander took another step towards completing his roster for the 2026-27 men's basketball season with the signing of transfer Timotej Malovec (Ivanka Pri Dunajl, Slovakia/Miami) on Thursday morning (April 30).
A 6-foot-8, 214-pound forward originally from Ivanka Pri Dunaji, Slovakia, Malovec spent the past season playing for head coach Jai Lucas at Miami, whereas a true freshman he played in 33 games with 2 starts for a Hurricane squad that won 26 games and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. He was tied for second on the team in 3-point field goals (37) while making at least one triple in 18 games with a season-high 4 high on three occasions.
Malovec scored in 21 of 33 games played with four double-digit scoring games. He had a season-high 16 points vs. Southern Miss on Dec. 6, hitting on 5-of-11 field goals with four 3-pointers, while he had 12 points each vs. Stetson on Nov. 10 and ULM on Dec. 13. For the season, he averaged 4.2 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 14.9 minutes per game, while connecting on 35 percent (43-of-123) from the field and 33.3 percent (37-of-11) from 3-point range.
A member of the Slovakian U16 and U18 National Teams, Malovec has extensive international experience, having played nearly 200 games with seven teams across seven leagues from Slovakia, Greece and Serbia. He most recently played in 67 games in two seasons (2023-25) with Mega Superbet (BC Mega MIS Beograd) in the ABA League First Division. He averaged 6.5 points on 56.7 percent shooting, including 37.4 percent from 3-point range, to go with 3.2 rebounds in 25.9 minutes per game in playing in 32 games for the team in 2024-25.
Malovec's Mega Superbet club played against current Wildcat Andrej Kostic's Crvena Zvezda club on March 17, 2025 but Kostic did not play.
Malovec starred for the Slovakian National Team at the European Pre-Qualifiers for the 2027 World Cup in August 2025, averaging a team-leading 22.5 points on 43.3 percent (26-of-60) shooting, including 44.8 percent (13-of-29) from 3-point range, with 7.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals in 34.3 minutes per game. He scored 28 points vs. Ukraine in the final game on August 20.
Malovec is the 12th player to join the Wildcats this spring, including the 10th from the transfer portal. He is the first player from Slovakia to play at K-State.
