
Tennis Team Garners Six Academic All-Big 12 Team Accolades

For a consecutive year six women from the tennis team have earned the honor
MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team had six women named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team and four freshmen to the Rookie Team as announced by the conference on Tuesday (June 30).
The six Wildcats include Maralgoo Chogsomjav and Chanel Rustemova, both for a consecutive year, and freshmen Martaa Chogsomjav, Addison Renfro, Mallory Renfro and Diana Smolinska. Martaa and Addison both earned a 4.00 GPA.
It marks a consecutive year under head coach Jordan Smith that six athletes have earned the honor while there have been 26 accolades in the last five seasons.
Rustemova was also recognized by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) to the Academic All-District Team on May 12.
To qualify for Spring Academic honors, student-athletes must maintain a 3.20 GPA or higher, either cumulative or over the two previous semesters, and must have participated in 20% of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen are not eligible, while transfers in their first year of academic residence are eligible. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
