Purple Reign to Compete in $2 million TBT July 21-24

Purple Reign will host a game at Bramlage on Tuesday at 8 pm CT.
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Purple Reign – Kansas State's men's basketball alumni team – will once again compete in the $2 million, winner-take-all The Basketball Tournament (TBT) beginning with a best-of-3 game series with JHX Hoops – the Kansas alumni group – July 21-24.
Purple Reign and JHX Hoops will open their 3-game series at Bramlage Coliseum on Tuesday (July 21) at 8 p.m., CT before a second game at Lee Arena in Topeka on Wednesday (July 22) at 7 p.m., CT. A possible third game will be played at Bramlage Coliseum on Friday (July 24) at 8 p.m., CT.
Fans can purchase tickets for Tuesday's opener via the K-State Athletics Ticket Office. Tickets start at $15 for general admission seating. A GA 4-Pack can be purchased for $50.
Tuesday's game will air nationally on FS1, while Wednesday's game can be seen on FS2.
The TBT has undergone a new 14-team format that includes an 8-team alumni bracket and a 6-team non-alumni bracket. The eight alumni teams will face on home courts in a best-of-3 series. The winner of the alumni bracket will host the $2 million Championship on August 2.
Purple Reign, which is organized by former Wildcats Jordan Henriquez-Roberts and Martavious Irving, is in ninth year competing in the TBT. Henriquez-Roberts and Irving are a part of the winningest class in school history (101 victories) as well as the first team to win a conference championship in 36 years in 2013.
Consensus First Team All-American Michael Beasley (2007-08), all-time leading scorer Jacob Pullen (2007-11) and All-Big 12 selection Xavier Sneed (2016-20) headline the Purple Reign, which also includes former Wildcats Cartier Diarra (2017-20), DaJuan Gordon (2019-21), Mike McGuirl (2017-22), Dominique Sutton (2007-10), Austin Trice (2018-19) and Shaun Williams (2018-20).
The team also includes Brandon Childress (Wake Forest), John Florevus (Georgia) and Tyonte Robertson (Panola College).
Former Wildcat Lance Harris (2003-07) will serve as head coach and will be assisted by fellow alums Clent Stewart (2004-08), Jonathan Hoard Martinez and Irving. Harris, who has spent time coaching in the G-League upon concluding his playing career, is currently an assistant coach for Dubai Basketball in the ABA League and EuroLeague.
The JHX Hoops team is full of familiar names from Kansas men's basketball history, including Darnell Jackson (2004-05), Mario Chalmers (2005-08), Tyshawn Taylor (2008-12), Kevin Young (2011-13), Carlton Bragg Jr. (2015-17), Marcus Garrett (2017-21) and Zeke Mayo (2024-25).
Other players include former Washburn players Jacob Hanna and Andrew Orr plus Tra-Deon Hollins (Omaha) and DJ Burns (Youngstown State).
Former Jayhawk Sherron Collins (2006-10) will be the head coach JHX Hoops. Collins, Beasley and Pullen had memorable battles during their playing careers.
The winner of the first-round series between Purple Reign and JHX Hoops will advance to a single-elimination quarterfinal matchup against the winner of the Aftershocks (Wichita State Alumni) and The Enchantment (New Mexico Alumni). Other alumni groups include The Ville (Louisville Alumni), La Familia (Kentucky Alumni), Boeheim's Army (Syracuse Alumni) and Hall In (Seton Hall Alumni).
The Aftershocks are the defending TBT champions.
