- Opted to utilize his extra season of eligibility and returned for the 2021-22 season, becoming one of the rare players to see action in 5 seasons (2017-18 to 2021-22).
- Saw action in 132 career games with 68 starts… His 132 games played tied Wesley Iwundu for the seventh-most in school history.
- Finished with 924 career points (7.0 ppg.) on 37.6 percent shooting (316-of-840), including 32.2 percent (149-of-463) from 3-point range… Scored 761 points (8.9 ppg.) in the last three seasons (2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22) in 86 career games on 38 percent shooting (259-of-681), including 33.4 percent (126-of-377) from 3-point range.
- Finished with 39 career double-digit scoring games, including a team-leading 20 in 2020-21… Posted double-digit points in 32 of the last 61 games played.
- Became the 40th Wildcat to tally 100 assists in a single season (2020-21), while he is 28th player in school history to register more than 200 assists in a career (266).
- Concluded his career tied for ninth in steals with 118, which included 25 or more in each of the last 4 seasons with a career-best 33 in 2021-22.
- Made his first impression as a true freshman in 2018, coming off the bench with a then career-high 17 points to help knock off Creighton (3/16/18) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, which propelled K-State to the Elite Eight… It was the most points by a freshman in an NCAA Tournament game since Michael Beasley scored 23 vs. Wisconsin (3/20/08).

- Averaged 11.8 points on 35.6 percent shooting (112-of-315), including 31.6 percent (60-of-190) from 3-point range, with 3.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.0 steals per game… Connected on 76.3 percent (58-of-76) from the free throw line.
- Led the team in nearly every offensive category, including points (342), double-digit scoring games (20), field goals made (112) and attempted (315), 3-point field goals made (60) and attempted (190), free throws made (58) and attempted (76) and assists (103).

- Saw action in 29 games with 20 starts… Started the first 15 games and the last 5 games… Missed 3 games (Texas Tech (1/14/20), West Virginia (1/18/20) and Kansas (1/21/20) due to a concussion, which snapped a streak of 54 consecutive games played… Returned to play at Alabama (1/25/20), the start of 9 consecutive games off the bench.
- Logged 717 minutes, averaging 24.7 minutes per game… Played 20 or more minutes in 24 games, including 30 or more minutes in 9 games… Played a career-high 36 minutes in the win over TCU (3/11/20) in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship.
- Averaged 6.9 points on 42.3 percent shooting (66-of-156), including a team-best 39.8 percent (35-of-88) from 3-point range, with 2.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 0.9 steals per game… Connected on 66 percent (33-of-50) from the free throw line.

- Scored in 27 games (16 times in Big 12 play) with a career-best 18 points, including 15 in the second half, against West Virginia (1/9/19) on 7-of-12 field goals, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range… It marked just the second time in double digits.
- Registered 6 or more points in 4 of his last 8 games, including a 7-point outing vs. UC Irvine (3/22/19) in the NCAA Tournament.
- Performed well in his first start vs. Texas (1/2/19), scoring 5 points on 2-of-4 field goals to go with a career-best 3 steals and 2 rebounds in 30 minutes of action.

As A Freshman (2017-18)
- Saw action in 12 games, including all 4 NCAA Tournament games… Was expected to redshirt the season, as he did not play in the first 13 games, but was pressed into time due to the injury to Kamau Stokes against No. 18/18 Texas Tech (1/16/18) then again with the injury to Dean Wade in the Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship and the NCAA Tournament.
- Averaged 12.5 minutes per game, including 21.5 minutes per game in the NCAA Tournament… 107 of his 150 minutes on the season came in the last 5 games of the season, including 20 or more minutes of action against No. 9/9 Kansas (3/9/18) in the Big 12 Championship and Creighton (3/16/18), No. 18/20 Kentucky (3/22/18) and Loyola Chicago (3/24/18) in the NCAA Tournament… Played a season-high 29 minutes vs. Loyola Chicago (3/24/18).
- Averaged 3.3 points on 33.3 percent shooting (13-of-39), including 23.8 percent (5-of-21) from 3-point range, with 1.5 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 0.3 steals in 12.5 minutes per game… Connected on 75 percent (9-of-12) from the free throw line.

- A four-year letterman at East Catholic High School in Manchester, Conn. … Helped the Eagles post a 90-17 overall record during his prep career and included CIAC State Championships in 2014 (Class M) and 2016 (Class L) and state semifinals in 2015 (Class M) and 2017 (Class LL).
- Led East Catholic to a 26-2 overall record and a trip to the semifinals of the Connecticut Class LL semifinals, where they lost to eventual state champion Hillhouse, 53-45, as a senior in 2016-17… The team finished No. 3 in the final GameTimeCT/New Haven Register Top 10… The team enjoyed a 25-game winning streak from Dec. 27 to March 10.
- Scored more than 1,000 points in his prep career, including more than 500 his senior season.
- Named First Team All-State by the Connecticut High School Coaches Association and New Haven Register as both a junior (2016 – Class L) and senior (2017 – Class LL)… Twice selected to the Fab 15 All-Courant Team by the Hartford Courant… Named to the Central Connecticut Conference (CCC) all-league squad as a junior and senior.
- Averaged 21 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists per game as a senior in 2016-17.
- Scored in double figures in 25 of 28 games played as a senior, including 12 games of 20 or more points… Posted a season-high 27 points in a win over Hartford Public (2/23/17), including the game-winning shot with 1.9 seconds left to push to the second round of the CCC Tournament… Tallied 26 points vs. Hamden (3/8/17) in the second round of the Class LL second round… Collected a triple-double vs. Manchester (2/2/17) with 26 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.

- Michael Joseph McGuirl was born December 4, 1998 in Harford, Conn. … Parents are Pat and Yovana McGuirl… Has three sisters (Aissa, Gabby and Elizabeth).
- McGuirl is just the second Connecticut player and first since Marcus McCollough (1996-98).
- Earned a bachelor’s degree in finance in May 2021 and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Personal Financial Planning.
