- Our “Things to Know” documents are not meant to show you how to do things, but instead are meant to give you ideas and topics that you should ask questions about. When you have time before games, you should be going through these points to further your knowledge base.

- As an EVS operator you must learn to select angles that best show what happened. Those angels are not always the two you currently have called up. You must be able to review and change angles as necessary. Remember, don’t just be a button pusher, be an operator that can critically think.
- You also need to know what audio you should be receiving on each of your four channels which is slightly different based on the show. You can only confirm you are getting the correct signals if you know what you should be hearing on each.
- EVS operator is also in charge of our record decks. Again you can only confirm you are getting the correct audio signals if you know what you should be hearing on each. Refer to sport information pages for signal specifications for each sport.
- We realize that everyone might not know the intricacies of every sport, but part of your job is to learn the sports and what makes a good replay and highlight package so you can do your job better. For example, if you don’t know baseball very well, watch some games, watch some SportsCenter highlights, see how others are doing it and try to emulate them. Put forth some effort outside of our games and the results will show.
- The control rooms are open for you to come in and get some hands-on experience at any time. Take advantage of this opportunity to review what you have been shown, get some muscle memory, and explore menus. Spending time on the equipment is the only way to learn it.
