Smith enters his second season at K-State as graduate manager in 2020.
Smith, who played and coached under current K-State pitching game coordinator Cord “Buck” Taylor, comes to Manhattan after spending the 2018 season as the volunteer assistant at Palomar College where he primarily worked with the outfielders and hitters.
A 6-foot-1 outfielder, Smith began his collegiate playing career at Palomar in 2013. In two seasons under Taylor, he helped the Comets collect two conference championships and one Super Regional berth. Smith was named First Team All-Conference in each of his two seasons at Palomar and earned Player of the Year honors his sophomore season under Taylor before accepting a scholarship to play at San Jose State.
While at SJSU, Smith hit .265 with nine doubles, four triples and 27 runs batted in as the everyday right fielder, being named Second Team All-Conference his senior year. After two seasons with the Spartans, Smith earned his degree in communications.
A native of Canyon Lake, California, Smith was a three-year letterwinner at Temescal Canyon High School and was named All-Sunbelt League twice.
