Eleven Wildcats Earn Big 12 Academic Honors

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State baseball had eight student-athletes named to the 2025 Academic All-Big 12 Team while three players earned spots on the All-Rookie Team, the conference announced Tuesday.

Jacob Frost, James Guyette, Cadyn Karl, Kyan Lodice, Cayden Phillips, Ty Ruhl, Micah Dean, and JJ Slack each earned a spot on the Academic All-Big 12 Baseball Team, while Donte Lewis, Ty Smolinski, and Micah Henson were recognized on the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team.

In total, K-State has collected 67 academic all-conference honors in seven seasons under head coach Pete Hughes.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or in the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence for the Academic All-Big 12 Team. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

Overall, 148 student-athletes were named to the 2025 Academic All-Big 12 Baseball Team.

K-State ended the 2025 campaign with a record of 32-26, including a record-breaking 17 conference victories. The Wildcats earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season, marking the program's first back-to-back appearances since 2010–11.
