Devin Klieman is in his fifth year at Kansas State in 2023 and third as a defensive graduate assistant. In his role, Klieman works with the linebackers while also helping break down film and run the scout team.
Klieman helped K-State win a Big 12 Championship in 2022 with the defense holding top 30 national rankings in five categories, including top-20 showings in interceptions (10th; 16), total turnovers (14th; 24) and 4th down defense (18th; 39.4%). K-State’s interception and total turnover numbers were their most since 2016, while the national ranking in interceptions was their best since 2003. Additionally, Kansas State’s pass efficiency defense of 123.36 was its best mark since 2013 (114.82).
In his first season as a graduate assistant, Klieman assisted in coaching the Wildcat defense to its best scoring mark since 2003 as the 2021 unit allowed just 21.0 points per game to rank 23rd in the nation. The Wildcats allowed 344.7 yards per game – their best mark since 2009 – which included 129.5 rushing yards per game, their best mark in four seasons.
Klieman came to K-State in the fall of 2019 as a student coach after spending the previous two years as a student coach at North Dakota State. While in Fargo, Klieman assisted current K-State defensive coordinator Joe Klanderman.
A December 2020 graduate from Kansas State, Klieman earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration. He then began a graduate assistantship at Abilene Christian before returning to Manhattan in June 2021.
