Entering his ninth year with the program, Sam Young is in his third year as a Graduate Assistant in 2020. In his current role, Young assists with coaching the tight ends and running backs while also helping to run the defensive scout team.

Previously, Young was an offensive graduate assistant in 2018. He also spent time as a student assistant coach working with the quarterbacks from 2013 to 2016 before serving as an offensive graduate manager in 2017 in which he provided preparatory work and broke down film.

Young, who originally entered the program as a Powercat Pride Assistant in 2012, grew up in Lenexa, Kansas, and was a two-year letterman at Rockhurst High School under former Wildcat Tony Severino.

Young earned his undergraduate degree in Secondary Education from Kansas State in May 2017. He added a Masters Degree in Academic Advising in 2019.
