Matt Thomason enters his 23rd season working with the Kansas State football program and his sixth as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Health, Wellness & Performance. In his role, Thomason provides administrative oversight, direction and strategic planning as well as creates and maintains a collaborative culture and productive work environment for the areas of sports medicine, strength and conditioning, sports nutrition and student-athlete wellness. He is also a member of K-State Football’s optimal performance team, which helps ensure student-athletes are at their peak performance for both practices and games.

In addition to those duties, Thomason is also the sport administrator for the Wildcat women’s soccer program.

During the summer of 2020, Thomason helped spearhead K-State Athletics’ student-athlete return-to-activities plan and employee return to work operational plan during the COVID-19 pandemic. He was also on the Big 12’s working group for recommendation for return to sport in addition to Kansas State University’s emergency management working and executive recovery timeline groups.
