Albert “Monk” Edwards lettered in basketball under Charles Corsaut from 1926-28, in football as an end from 1925-27 under Charles Bachman and Bo McMillan, and baseball under Corsaut from 1926-28 at Kansas State.

A native of Fort Scott, Kan., he helped the Wildcats to winning records in each of his three baseball seasons, two of his football seasons and two of his basketball seasons.

Edwards was captain of the basketball squad as a junior in 1927 and again in 1928. He earned second-team All-Missouri Valley honors in basketball in 1927 as one of the top offensive guards in the league.

On the football field, Edwards was recognized for the same traits he displayed on the basketball court, earning honorable-mention all-league honors as an end.

He was known as a fire hitter and centerfielder on the baseball field. His game-winning hit with three on and none out in the bottom of the tenth, gave the Wildcats a 5-4 victory over the Oklahoma Aggies during the 1926 season.

Edwards went onto play professional baseball in Texas upon graduation.
