Clarence Scott played three seasons as a cornerback at Kansas State, finishing his career as one of the top defensive backs in school history.
Scott had five interceptions as a sophomore, three as a junior and four as a senior, tying or leading the team in interceptions in all three seasons. His 12 career interceptions rank fourth all-time at K-State and he finished his three years with 173 tackles and 29 pass breakups.
He received All-America honors in 1970 from The Sporting News and Look Magazine. Scott played in several postseason all-star games, including the Coaches’ All-America Game and the College All-Star Game.
Scott earned enough attention to be selected in the first round of the 1971 NFL?Draft by the Cleveland Browns. He went on to play 13 seasons for the Browns and started in the 1974 NFL Pro Bowl.
