Dick Knostman is one of four Kansas State men’s basketball players to have earned All-America honors twice, being named in 1952 and 1953.
Some 50 years following his senior season, Knostman still ranks on Kansas State career lists in scoring and rebounding. He is ranked in the top 20 all-time with 1,083 points in his three years and in the top 10 with 774 boards.
Knostman’s 22.7 points per game scoring average in 1953 is the second-best season in school history. The best game of his career came in a 42-point, 23-rebound effort against Oklahoma.
He led the Wildcats in scoring as both a junior (16.7 average) and senior. Knostman was one of three Wildcats who scored in double figures in the 1951 NCAA?West Region final win over Oklahoma A&M.
