K-State Athletics Hall of Fame

Ed Klimek
- Induction:
- 2018
- Class:
- 1938
Holding the distinction of being K-State’s last four sport letterman, Ed Klimek lettered in football, basketball, baseball, and track and field from 1936-1938. Klimek played football for two years, helping the team to an 8-8-2 record during that time, although his most successful foray was likely in baseball. Klimek helped lead the Wildcats to a second-place finish in the Big 6 in 1937, while also setting the single-game school record for strikeouts with 17, a mark that stood nearly 40 years. After K-State, Klimek signed to pitch for the St. Louis Cardinals before tragically dying of a heart attack in 1940. To pay tribute, the men’s dormitory at Memorial Stadium was named in his honor in 1946.
