From local newspapers to ESPN telecasts, the name “Bramlage Coliseum” has become synonymous with Kansas State Basketball, but Bramlage Coliseum is more than just the arena where talented student-athletes perfect their games. Bramlage Coliseum is so much more. It is a permanent and glorious tribute to one man’s generosity and support of the school he loves.
Bramlage personally contributed $2.8 million of the $17.5 million for the cost of building the new coliseum and spearheaded the drive that raised the other $14.7 million.
In 1990, he was elected to the Kansas Business Hall of Fame and he is largely responsible for the I-70 route through Junction City and was instrumental in bringing the 1st Infantry Division to Junction City. Additionally, Bramlage was named 1988 Kansan of the Year by the Topeka Capital-Journal.
