Kendra Wecker was one of the greatest women’s college basketball players in the country and in K-State Athletics history during her tenure at K-State. A four-time All-Big 12 honoree, Wecker was also named the Big 12 Player of the Year as a senior in 2005.
Her record-setting endeavors included career scoring and rebounding, but she also has the most career double-doubles (52), career field goals made (935), career field goals attempted (1,913), career minutes played (4,141) and most consecutive free throws made (28).
Wecker was the recipient of the 2005 Senior CLASS award given to the outstanding senior NCAA Division I Student-Athlete of the Year for Women’s Basketball. She was also a finalist for the Collegiate Basketball Award of Excellence in 2005 and a three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection.
Her No. 53 jersey was retired on Feb. 26, 2005 and she was drafted No. 4 by the San Antonio Silver Stars in the 2005 WNBA Draft. She was also inducted in the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.
