A two-time All-American and four-time All-Big 12 selection, Mark Simoneau is one college football greatest linebackers and played at K-State from 1996-99. Simoneau helped the Wildcats to a 42-7 record during his time at K-State, racking up 400 total tackles which ranks 3rd all-time, including a school record 251 unassisted tackles. A four-year starter, Simoneau earned Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year honors in 1996, before culminating his career in 1999 with consensus All-American status, Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors, and being the runner-up for the Dick Butkus Award, given annually to the nation’s top linebacker. In 2000, Simoneau was a 3rd-round selection in the NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons and went on to play for ten seasons. In 2008, Simoneau was inducted into the K-State football Ring of Honor. In 2012, he became just the second Wildcat ever inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
