Overseeing department financial stability and key construction projects, Max Urick served as K-State Director of Athletics from 1993-2001. Urick helped oversee construction projects such as the Academic Learning Center, Tointon Family Stadium, and KSU Stadium’s JumboTron and east side stadium improvements, while also making gender-equity issues and Title IX equivalency of high importance at K-State. During his tenure, K-State won two conference titles in women’s cross country and women’s track and field and went to eight straight bowl games with legendary head coach Bill Snyder, including a No. 1 overall national ranking in 1998. Urick also served on the NCAA Division 1-A Athletics Directors Board of Trustees and Cost Reduction Committee as well as the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, or NACDA board. Urick was inducted into the NACDA Hall of Fame in 2017.
