Michael Bishop joined K-State football in 1997 and was named the Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year.  He is generally regarded as the best all-around quarterback to ever play at K-State as he set 34 school records, 14 Big 12 records and led the team to a 22-3 record as a starter in his two-year tenure in Manhattan.

He rushed for 1,314 yards and 23 touchdowns while throwing for 4,401 and 36 touchdowns in two seasons and played a key role in the Wildcats first No. 1 national ranking in 1997-1998.

In addition to being the 1998 Heisman Trophy runner-up and the 1998 Davey O’Brien Award winner (given to the nation’s top quarterback), Michael was also a finalist for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm and Maxwell Awards.

Also set 14 Big 12 records and still holds four… Two-time All-Big 12 performer and 1998 First Team All-American… 1997 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year.
