One of just two players in school history with 2,000 career points, including the second-most with 2,115 points, Mike Evans was a four-year lettermen for head coach Jack Hartman from 1974-78.

In his first season, he was selected Freshman of the Year in 1975.  He went on to guide the Wildcats to 82 wins, three postseason appearances and the 1977 Big Eight regular season and tournament titles. A native of Goldsboro, N.C., Evans is one of two players in school history to be named Big Eight Player of the Year twice (1977, 1978) and one of just three player to earn first team all-conference honors three times. He was named to several All-America teams as a senior in 1977-78 after averaging 19.1 points per game.

For his career, he averaged 18.1 points on nearly 50 percent shooting in 117 games. He was taken in the first round of the 1978 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets and played nine seasons in the league before retiring in 1989.
