Oren Stoner earned eight letters in three different sports at Kansas State and is a Pioneer Era inductee into the K-State Athletics Hall of Fame.
Stoner was a key member of Kansas State’s 1934 football team that won the Big Six Conference championship. He was a halfback, defensive back, kick and punt returner, and earned first team all-conference honors.
In basketball, Stoner earned honorable mention All-Big Six honors during his senior season. He also served as a team captain for the Wildcats that year.
He was a amember of the shuttle hurdle relay team that set a world record at the Kansas Relays in 1934. He also participated on the Wildcats’ 1935 track and field team that won the Big Six Conference team title.
Stoner retired in 1972 from Coffeyville High, where he was a teacher, administrator and coach. The Coffeyville High School Gymnasium was named in his honor.
