Priscilla Gary-Sweeney was the first female student-athlete inducted into the K-State Sports Hall of Fame in 1998.
Gary-Sweeney made an immediate impact, leading the Wildcats in scoring at 18.2 points per game, and steals with 75 in 1982. This same year, she earned first-team All-Big Eight and NCAA Tournament All-East Regional honors for the Wildcat squad which won the Big Eight Championship and reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.
She was named a second-team All-American by the American Women’s Sports Federation following the 1982 season.
In 1983, Gary-Sweeney became K-State’s only Kodak All-American, averaging 18.3 points per game and leading her team to its second consecutive Big Eight title and the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.
Gary-Sweeney was the first ever recipient of the Big Eight Conference Player-of-the-Week award following wins over Missouri and Colorado in which she scored 42 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Following the 1983 season, Gary-Sweeney was named to several All-America teams and was a finalist for the Wade Trophy. In addition, she was also named the Middle America Player-of-the-Year.
