Wildcats Fly By Fairleigh-Dickinson, 88-45

MANHATTAN, Kan. - Junior forward Pervis Pasco, who scored 19 points and posted 10 rebounds, led five Wildcats in double figures as Kansas State cruised to an 88-45 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson in a men's college basketball game played Saturday afternoon at Bramlage Coliseum.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak by the Wildcats and lifted them to 6-5 overall. The Knights fell to 0-11 on the year.
Pasco, who collected his fourth double-double in the past five games, went 9-for-12 from the field, while junior forward Matt Siebrandt scored a season-high 14 points on 5 of 6 shooting from the floor. Wildcat guards Phineas Atchison and Nick Williams each posted 13, while freshman Marcelo Da Barrosa added 10 second-half points.
Senior forward Matt Hammond led the FDU in scoring and on the boards, posting 15 points and six rebounds. Ryshaun Sunkins added eight points for the Knights, who shot just 27.3 percent (15 of 55) from the floor and were only 3-for-23 from the three-point line.
With the scored tied at 11 with 13:04 remaining in the first half, the Wildcats went on a 21-3 run over the next seven minutes to take control of the game. Siebrandt and Pasco combined for 12 of those points as K-State pushed the lead to 41-22 at the break, its largest lead of the first half this season.
The `Cats continued to build on their lead throughout the second half. K-State went on a 14-0 run midway through the final half and led 66-27 with 10:30 left in the game. The Wildcats held their largest lead of the game, 80-34, with 6:00 minutes left on the clock.
The Wildcats dominated the interior throughout the game, holding a 52-26 advantage on the boards and a 54-22 edge in points in the paint.
K-State shot 51.6 percent (33 of 64) from the field, its second-best outing of the season and posted a season-high 88 points. The `Cats 43-point margin of victory was the largest since a 111-56 win over Missouri on Jan. 3, 1998. The 45 points scored by Fairleigh Dickinson were also the fewest allowed by K-State since a 62-36 win over Coppin State on Dec. 21, 1998.
K-State is off until Sunday, Jan. 6, when it opens Big 12 Conference play at Texas Tech. Tipoff in Lubbock is set for 1 p.m. (CDT).
