Mack Leads Shockers Past Wildcats

Manhattan, Kan. - Troy Mack scored 20 points and had 10 rebounds, while Rob Kampman added 15 points to lead Wichita State to a 65-56 victory over Kansas State in a men's college basketball game played Wednesday night at Bramlage Coliseum.
The win lifted the Shockers to 4-3 overall, while the Wildcats fell to 4-2.
Gilson DeJesus led Kansas State with a career-high 21 points, including a 6-for-12 effort from three-point range. Larry Reid finished with 11 points and dished out a season-high eight assists.
The game was tied at 47-47 with 6:22 left, when Wichita State went on an eight-point run. C.C. McFall hit two free throws at the 4:58 mark, and Mack converted a three-point play on the Shockers' next possession. Following a Wildcat turnover, Kampman made one of his four three-pointers on the night, and the visitors had a 55-47 lead with 4:07 left.
K-State twice pulled within four points, but could come no closer down the stretch. Wichita State hit 9 of 11 free throws in the final 49 seconds to seal the victory.
Mack had nine of his points in the first half as the Shockers earned a 30-22 halftime lead. The Wildcats managed just 35 percent shooting from the floor before halftime and finished by hitting just 37 percent from the field. K-State hit just 10 of 21 free throws in the game.
Pervis Pasco finished with a game-high 11 rebounds and three blocked shots for K-State, which was outscored in the second half for the first time this season. The six three-pointers by DeJesus were the most by a Wildcat this year.
The Wildcats travel to Northwestern on Saturday for their first road game of the year.
